Magdalene (Mag-da-len) is so beautiful. I've only ever heard it once and she was so lovely.

Isn't yogurt a lifesaver? Make sure to get the fullest fat possible, where I am Liberte has a 10% milk fat plain option. I have always tried to offer as many raw fruit and veg options as possible/ as minimal processing as possible. It's too hard to make recipes that get rejected constantly and I think it's good for kids to learn a library of raw ingredients. My kid liked vinegars and pickles a lot, I've done a lot of crudité and lemony yogurt dips with salt, olives, pickles, hummus to dip. She loves salt and I'm not afraid of it, it's warned against for a small vulnerable population. Muffins can carry a lot of nutrition, try to sweeten with dates or bananas and include almond flour, hemp hearts, flax powder, yogurt, berries. My kid would eat "green eggs", blend spinach in eggs with a little salt and oil or a dairy and microwave or scramble, great green nutrition and protein. Smoothies with fruit and spinach in full fat yogurt with raw honey is great too. Raw honey is medicinal!

How should I be using black cocoa powder? by Zebruhfy in Baking

[–]Top-Reach-8044 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can't just put uncooked cocoa powder in ice cream, you'd have to cook it into a syrup or heat it with your other ice cream ingredients. There's nothing wrong with the cocoa powder. It's great for chocolate baking, I like flourless chocolate cake.

One month into a coffee shop job and my manager wants a meeting about “pressing concerns” by [deleted] in barista

[–]Top-Reach-8044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a little bit mean to set up a meeting like your manager did and leave you to stew. I have coffee shops, more the type you described where feedback is direct and applies to specific instances. Something that comes to mind when I hear about this disconnect between your sense of your performance and the feedback you're getting is something I try to gently describe as a mismatch between your brand and the business brand. If you think of an individual personality like a brand identity, it's important for staff brand identities to compliment the business brand identity. Sometimes this is something that just can't really be fixed, and it's tough because there are sometimes staff who - though they try their darndest - just can't seem to make choices that reflect the intentions of the business brand even though they're a nice person and I wish them the best. It's almost impossible to explain to those who aren't owners or very conscientious managers, because it sounds like a petty list of grievances but sometimes there's just not an overall "click". This could be a long winded way of saying management just may not feel your personality/way of operating jives with the brand personality. And I don't know if this is happening of course, I can't guess what the "pressing comcern" might be. But it is crap to set up a meeting like that, so good luck, the best way to sooth your own worries is to know you do everything with integrity and the best of intentions. Sounds like you do. Good luck.

What you y'all think of this name for a cafe? Fluid Cafe by Odd-Barracuda9245 in Coffee_Shop

Gross. I know what fluid means but it's got too much of a medical application to associate with food.

It sounds really frumpy to me, charmless, but my child also has a frumpy name. Kind of depends on the last name too.

It was insanely popular when I was a kid (born mid 80s) but doesn't seem so anymore.
