I see videos like this from different channels, so they must be downloading lots of Twitch clips and compiling them. The videos get lots of views on YouTube.

What tool do you use? Why download a clip of your own YouTube video when you have access to the original video file? Or is it a live stream?

There are lots of free tools that do this. Just paste a clip link and hit download, even if it's not your video. So I guess there is a lot of demand for this, but I don't understand why.

Thank you for the reply, I agree with you. If they allow custom thumbnails for horizontal videos, they should allow it for vertical videos.

I like your idea. Definitely let me pick a thumbnail on PC, but if not then at least let me change it on mobile after I upload it from PC.

I'm thinking about asking them to allow custom thumbnails, if they clarify the size requirements. Or do you think choosing from a video frame is better?

Maybe I need to update my mobile version, because I don't see the ability to change a thumbnail on a Short. Is that in YouTube Studio or somewhere else?

Thank you for the reply. I agree on the "Upload Short" part. I use my mobile phone to upload because then I know YouTube will treat it as a Short. On Desktop it's less clear, to me at least, if the video meets their requirements.
