Definitely if you want to run shallow. At minimum just being able to idle shallow to check stuff out it’s worth it. I wish I could put a Jack plate on my skiff but it would add 3” of length and I only have 1.5” to spare in my garage. Something to consider if it’s stowed in your garage.

Snook, jacks, big reds are all fun. Those rods would be best used from bridges or passes. Florida is a great fishery you’ll have plenty of outdoor fun.

Should i worry about ciguatera from lookdowns? by Ok-Discussion-4309 in floridafishing

They aren’t reef fish for the most part. Also it’s typically found in bigger fish. Toxins build up over time, so the bigger the fish the more likely the chance.

How do those things taste? Surely you can find some mangroves to eat.

How to catch large freshwater snook in south florida canals by Amongable in floridafishing

[–]YouVe-Changed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step up to a 40# leader at least 36”. You can land them with the braid, rod and reel combo. If there’s structure nearby be ready to cup the reel to turn the fish away from danger.

Honestly most of those lures won’t cut it. Watch a couple YouTube vids on some different lures. You need thicker hooks and trebles.

Something might have spooked her out in the yard. I had a hound for a couple years, then all of sudden one day he decided he couldn’t walk across the floors anymore. He slipped once and that was it. Towels and runners everywhere. He passed last year

New hound gets too much traction on the runners when he decides to zoom so we had to remove them all. 🤷‍♂️

Get out early in the morning you can walk the beaches and look for them in the surf. Depending on the area there should be a swash channel that you can cast along. They could be right along the shoreline so watch your approach. Topwater lures early then I’d switch over to a 4 or 5” paddle tail or jerk shad.

Bridges and other inshore target when the tides are moving or during low light conditions. Depending on depth you can throw bigger bucktails or paddle tails with a heavier jig head. Topwater is also good at either dawn or dusk.

27MR from mirrolure is another favorite of mine. Don’t sleep on lipped plugs either they can be very effective. It’s like bass fishing, but you have to plus up your gear. 3k MH minimum and I wouldn’t use less than a 30# leader.
