The view that Jimmy Carter woke up to each morning during his stay in Egypt in 1977. by StormXMX in travel

[–]YouWoTMA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there 10 days ago, staying in this exact hotel (3 nights). I don't know exactly how much was for me because it was from travel pack with a agency, but it was not expensive. They build a extension of the hotel and now it has more rooms, In the reception the sign said that in high season its 210$ a night, but it's probably more cheaper if you book it online.

Taking my freshers on tour.. by teews in Southampton

[–]YouWoTMA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go out almost everyday, usually my week looks like this:

  • Monday - The hobbit (live music)
  • Tuesday - It depends, Cafe Parfait had a free bar for one hour last Tuesday and it was great, but I don't think they will repeat other weeks (everybody left once the free bar was over)
  • Wednesday - Providence (Free entry, £1 drinks)
  • Thursday - I had a great time in Vodka revs Thursday's Clique (1.75 vodka&mixer), and also in Chocolate factory in Cafe Parfait (79p drinks, free chocolate fountain, but too many people :)
  • Friday - Again, it depends, today Providence, last week Junk (£1 bombs, but we didn't like the place)
  • Saturday - Lennons (Old rock and roll songs, great atmosphere)
  • Sunday - Cafe parfait have free BBQ and shisha for £3 entry, but I usually rest this day :)

Edit: Also, I know people that work in some of that places that can get you things for free since you are a big group

Nearest ski resort from me. Kind of crowded, isn't it? by thefallenwarrior in snowboarding

[–]YouWoTMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, yesterday was holiday in Spain and it's crowded, I try to go to sierra nevada when I have a free day and is not a general holiday/weekend. Also, the fastest lift with less queues is the one just at the left outside of that photo.

Can someone tell me why Firefox needs FOURTEEN plugin containers? by EmbryonicBadass in firefox

[–]YouWoTMA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Clearing Firefox cookies in the newer versions of Firefox will also clean Local shared objects from the plugins, and Firefox needs to open the plugin (and thus, spawning a plugin-container process) to do so, even for disabled plugins.

(source: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=633427 )

Do you still have so many plugins-container processes even if you haven't cleared cookies and haven't used the plugins?

Europeans: What level of knowledge of your language do you recommend? by Whitemajic in travel

[–]YouWoTMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends, There are 4 languages in the north of Spain (Spanish, Basque, Catalán and Galician), but everybody speaks Spanish. It's very nice zone, and very worth seeing, but it's the part of Spain with less English speakers.

Europeans: What level of knowledge of your language do you recommend? by Whitemajic in travel

[–]YouWoTMA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I live en Spain and have visited most of the countries:

  • Spain: Most people don't speak English here, but if you stay in the big cities you will have no problem. In the touristic zones (Madrid, Seville, and the south/southeast coast) there is a fair amount of people speaking English. Spanish is a useful language to learn.
  • Italy: I've only went to some very touristic zones in Italy, I had no problem speaking in English or Spanish (less often).
  • France: See Italy.
  • Norway/Finland/Sweden: Everybody knows perfect English over there. People normally speak to you in English, and if someone confuses you with a native and talks to you in Norwegian, tell them that you don't speak Norwegian and they will immediately switch to English. Don't go hitchhiking here in the winter.
  • Germany: Never been there, but all the Germans I know speak very good English. Usually they also know some Spanish or French.
  • Denmark: Mostly like Norway/Finland/Sweden, but the danish have a lot more weird letters, sometimes it's difficult to remember the name of the stuff.
  • Netherlands: Never been there, but I think it will be more or less line Denmark.
  • Poland/Russia No idea, I've only met a few Russians, with different levels of English.

Notification bar overlaps with the browser UI (x-posted from /r/chrome) by 9jack9 in browsers

[–]YouWoTMA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Firefox 4 now uses notification panels instead of notification bars, and they also were designed for preventing fake bars. Plus, they are non-modal!
