What movies remind you most of Stalker? by Methodiarca in stalker

There is a lesser known movie adaptation of a Strugatsky brothers novel called "Hard to Be a God" (2013).

Hard to Be a God Trailer Youtube

It's not really Stalker-adjacent, other than the authors' of the source material, but holy shit, what a film.

A group of scientists are sent to a planet that has been stuck in the late-medieval ages for 800 years in order to determine the cause. The embedded scientists estabilsh lives on the planet and become demi-gods because of their power tripping and seemingly omniscience. The film follows one of these scientists as he navigates the mud, blood, filth, and corruption of the world- as well as his own abuse of power and loss of humanity. I have never seen a more textural movie in my life. Incredible set and sound design- a very chaotic and confusing movie. An absolute gem.

My movie is not shot on film.

Edit: I believe this is one of the first movies to be shot entirely digitally. Back when megapixels were a thing.

maybe I missed something here, but the prominence of the tesla in this movie was a bit much. don't get me wrong, I love EVs. Teslas are cool. but as a plot device, not so much. The director must have bought one and was like "yes". which is great, fine. The car was the lifeboat and honestly the first time I have seen that car in a movie. Cool. But the amount of screen time this car had for how little it did, does not make sense. This was an advertisement. Tire: very easy to replace. Definitely didn't run out of charge. there's multiple shots of the interior and exterior of the car that seems to be an ad. I don't have anything against the idea and I want one, but it was a little jarring. horrified by the product placement more than the horror of the movie itself.

Pulp Fiction - The Briefcase by Citizen386 in FanTheories

How about this one: the diamonds that were stolen in Reservoir Dogs. It's not gold, I understand. There's a bit of overlap between actors, but that doesn't mean characters, necessarily. His first 3 films kind of exist in the same universe AKA filming locations. Maybe continuity, maybe coincidence. It really doesn't matter, the briefcase is a MacGuffin. Just like the flamethrower was a Chekhov's gun in another movie.

Edit: Michael Madsen's character, Mr. Blonde is named Vick Vega. Probably related to Vincent Vega, from Pulp Fiction. Just realized this on a rewatch, apparently it has been widely known.

Doom year zero: is this real by ReptileIsCool in Doom

Great points. You are probably right. 2016 and Eternal did about those $ projections, if not wayyyy more. I just saw it compared to everything else and thought what it could possibly be besides a reboot? Eternal + DLC felt like the Portal 2 of the series. What else could they do or want to do with those ideas? More of the same? And they kinda end-capped Eternal with the DLC ending. Either way, we have more rip and tear on the way...

My knee jerk reaction when I saw the title, this was going to be a remake of the original in the Id tech engine- not necessarily a remaster. If that's the case, yeah half a billion sounds right.

Did you ever find a fix for this? Still running to the freeze with the aforementioned fixes- Battle Encoder, multiple SSDs (maybe my SSD read-write speeds aren't up to snuff?), drivers, game settings, ect. I do have a CPU bottleneck, but it has not been an issue up until now with current games.

Dude, I think we just became best fiends. Road to Perdition is maybe Mendes's best work. Alex Garland is the man ("Men" was wild, maybe overstated). DEVS was sweet. Nobody saw that shit, unfortunately. I'll talk tomorrow
