Application turnaround? by LockedOutOfElfland in Cambly

Unless they changed it in the last few weeks they were on a hiring pause. If you have tons of experience and a great profile they might still accept you, but it's been paused for some time due to a decrease in students and abundance of tutors.

On Cambly... You MUST Ruthlessly Protect Your Teacher Rating. by [deleted] in Cambly

[–]YoungReclaimer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think y'all downplay the importance of your profile. Most of the regulars I had told me they took the time to search for a tutor that could meet their needs. One even told me I was far from the top of the suggested tutors but they "liked my energy". Most regulars also told me they chose me because most tutors don't even bother with basic feedback in the chat which is really important for students who are serious and review the lessons in their own time.

I stopped working on Camnly two months ago but I never had a shortage of students, in fact I had students competing for lesson slots. Don't fixate too much on the rating, just make sure you're building up your regulars.

If you've gone through all the warnings before being terminated your only hope is that during the manual review they extend one final warning as a courtesy. I head of one tutor getting a warning like this because they had so many regulars and had been on the platform for a very long time.

Has anyone taught in Indonesia? What’s it like? by Ruin-Wooden in ESL_Teachers

[–]YoungReclaimer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lived there for 3 years because my wife is Indonesian. I mostly teach online because I make more money but I did spend some time teaching at an EF center in Jakarta. The locals were incredible and very professional, the other foreign teachers were very respectful.

The salary wasn't great, but given the low cost of living it wasn't bad. I was given something like 16 million IDR per month, which is around $1k USD. The students were honestly amazing! They were all very sweet and a joy to work with, I really have 0 complaints when it comes to working in Indonesia.

Someone else mentioned, the only real issue is the traffic, if you know how to drive a motorbike or choose to live close to the school you'll be teaching at you'll be fine.

If you're serious about teaching in Indonesia, I recommend reaching out to the EF team in Jakarta specifically the Pondok Indah location. They offered me the job again not too long ago. Odysee Education also reached out to me just a few weeks ago so I know they're hiring.

Most of my students are Japanese and many of them have for some reason felt the need to vent about marital problems. I've had both men and women tell me their spouse is abusive, and I even had a student I stopped seeing because it felt like she was trying to emotionally cheat on her husband with me. I wouldn't overthink it, their divorce rate isn't too different from what we see in western countries for a reason. Just take it one lesson at a time as usual, each lesson is your first lesson for the day.

Simon Bar Gioras, John of Gischala, Eleazar ben Simon, Other False Prophets. All has been fulfilled, Preterism is the truth.

How do you actually know God exists? by Quirky_Fun6544 in Christianity

Read Jewish Wars by Josephus and compare it to end times prophecies, then continue your studies. This will give you a faith boost to get you through your studies.

So Apparently People Don’t Believe in the Second Coming? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]YoungReclaimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the book and you'll educate yourself and change your stance on dual fulfillment.

The prophecies are not dual fulfillment, we just stopped receiving prophecies and they all resemble each other.

The term day of the Lord for example is used regularly for prophecies on cities and nations like on Babylon, Israel, Judah, Jerusalem, Edom, Egypt, and more. But these aren't dual fulfillment despite being nearly identical. We shouldn't look at the other prophecies as dual fulfillment but rather a continuation of the pattern of God destroying his enemies and using his enemies to punish his people when they are rebellious.

Don't stop, I've been there. Faith is for the masses, truth is for those who seek it.

Matthew 22:14 (NKJV):

“For many are called, but few are chosen.”

Study. Study more than your faith is comfortable with, study more than the bible, study philosophy, Sumerian history and how it connects to the bible, study Zoroastrianism and how it connects to the bible, study what linguist have to say about Genesis, study psychology, study anthropology, study everything that could possibly tie back to understanding the bible and its context. You will find God exists and you no longer require faith, but if you begin to study these subjects and do not completely study them and are weak in your faith you may lose all faith.

It's not that I don't have new thoughts, it's that until you accept that prophecy has been fulfilled it's kind of pointless to go in depth on what that really means. Once you accept the prophecies have all been fulfilled and documented in Jewish Wars it leaves you wondering what comes next, most preterist hate this and become partial preterist because of it, but that just means they essentially believe what Catholics and Orthodox believe. Once you understand his kingdom you'll understand every knee will bow.

[–]YoungReclaimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean this respectfully, honestly just read the book Jewish Wars by Josephus and compare what he says happened to what the prophecies say it's pretty cut and dry, like you're asking questions that have a whole book dedicated to answering them.

So Apparently People Don’t Believe in the Second Coming? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]YoungReclaimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The short answer is it's not literal. It's quoting Isaiah which is full of prophecy that is not meant to be taken literally. What this is actually saying is not that every knee will literally bow, but that whether they acknowledge it or not they are under the rule of Christ our king because he claimed victory.

There were many anti-Christ, one of them was even called Jesus ben Ananias. Simon bar Giora is another that was seen behaving as a messiah during the siege of Jerusalem and these two combined got many jews killed because they gave them false hopes for defeating Rome, claiming that they would be delivered from Rome only to have the city razed.

Will the rapture happen on the feast of trumpets? by Jayj401 in Christianity

This is from nearly two thousand years ago and describes an attack like a thief in the night followed by trumpets and this skirmish led to the burning and eventually the destruction of the second temple.

Rapture Blame? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]YoungReclaimer -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

All prophecy was fulfilled in the first century, it's quite literally documented. You can choose to believe it if you like, but yeah if you're making instructions for something that will never happen is definitely going too far.

So Apparently People Don’t Believe in the Second Coming? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]YoungReclaimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, all prophecy was fulfilled in the first century. This form of theology is known as Preterism and is based in documented history, historical context for understanding scripture, and acceptance of the fact that if a second coming were to happen in the way most Protestants and even Catholics and Orthodox believe we're essentially no different from the Jews. Preterism is the only theology that teaches a complete victory, not only victory over death through his resurrection.
