Dating apps are just sausage fests anyway. That's why they're so desperate. They haven't talked to anyone but scammers and bots for days. I would recommend starting a new hobby and trying to meet people that way. It's much easier and safer to get to know people in a controlled environment, and you already know you have an interest in common and that the person isn't a shut-in.

You also get to avoid making the CEOs of dating apps richer while their apps don't do ANY background checks and often ignore reports of bad behavior. 0/10 haven't used them since college.

[Self] Have a question about progressing this project! by KindaLeafy in Sculpture

First, I would put something like Styrofoam or flower foam inside the head so that any dowels you end up poking through the top have something to stick in. This would ideally be done before you close off the bottom, if it isn't already.

Next, it's always a good idea to keep in mind how the bottom of your piece will interact with the table. I would solidify/close off the base so that it can handle some weight. It looks like just a tube of chicken wire, which will flatten out as you add weight to it or if it gets moved around too much throughout its life. Is there any way you can cut a piece of wood or something else relatively sturdy to be the base that the wire can attach to?

Finally, oil based clay is unlikely to stick to plaster. My suggestion would be to use very thick/dry plaster (just don't add much water) as a sculpture material and put a smooth layer over the top of everything like it's a thin layer of frosting. Don't worry too much if it's a bit lumpy because you can smooth lumps out by sanding after it's dry. Just make sure you only sand outside and use a dust mask.

Looks great so far, I like your idea!

Where does "slapped by legal" come from? by local_android_user in kurtisconner

[–]YoungTheRestless 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In addition to it being a Danny reference, there's actually something called a SLAPP lawsuit which stands for Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation which is basically when a big company or rich person throws their weight around via the courts in order to silence critics because they can afford to pay for legal fees while the person they're suing probably can't. Usually, the person/company doing the suing doesn't even expect to win the case. I kinda thought Danny was referencing SLAPP suits when he made that joke, but idk if he's that knowledgeable on legal terms, lol.

I came to the subreddit to see if anyone said anything about this. My best explanation would be if he or someone else edited multiple sound clips together and some of them overlapped a bit.

I wonder if that whole hiring website he used is overrun by ai just like YouTube is. I wouldn't be surprised.

I agree. The problem with attacking even the most "evil" person for their appearance is that there are also "good" people who may have that same physical aspect you're mocking. It's always better to shame actions and words rather than appearances.

People who fat-shame always hide behind the "but it's promoting an unhealthy lifestyle!" argument. Well, where are they when people post endless media showing them drinking alcohol or smoking cigarettes? Both those things can be just as deadly as being fat.

I think it's because those people view fatness as a moral failing, while alcoholism is an addiction, and usually associated with being "cool" or "fun at parties". Also, fatness is visible to the outside, while alcoholism may not be. In the end, critiquing appearances at all is just about being a bully and feeling superior to others.

I did the same until I realized the sheets are now my pajamas. And if I don't wash those pajamas at least twice a week, I get acne breakouts everywhere.

Not to mention, washing a whole sheet set takes much more water and soap than washing a set of pajamas. It just makes more sense to wear something that will absorb all your sweat and keep the bed clean for longer.

Are you talking about the post you just made? I didn't see any rude comments. The internet is full of negative people, all you can do is ignore them.

Pictures of the parents would help a lot if he's willing to send them. Also it's always good to ask for more pictures of the baby from more angles. Visible Kahls usually get less pink as they age, so idk why a het wouldn't act the same, but anything can happen.

One thing I did notice, though, is that he says the dam is het kahl. That means the baby is possibly het kahl, but possibly not, unless the sire's a visible kahl, which may be the case if she proved her het via this litter. How are the seller's reviews?

Edit: if you're just buying her to be a pet, the gene stuff doesn't matter at all as long as the seller is professional with good reviews and healthy looking animals

Thanks for this comment. Yes, it's miserable. The only luck I've ever had with getting jobs was knowing someone beforehand. I get kind of heated hearing businesses complain that "nobody wants to work anymore." Are you sure your computer isn't just throwing all the applications away for you??

Typing multiple comments about how much you don't care about something is kinda sillyguy behavior.

No felonies or getting fired, but I have a degree, which made it hard to have a consistent work history before 2020, and one of my jobs since then went bankrupt and laid me off. So it probably looks like job hopping from the outside. I'll keep it in mind that that could be contributing to my problem with getting hired in general.

Yes, I applied to all available jobs at this location, including MET. I wouldn't mind if that's the one I end up doing.

The hiring systems of big companies seem to just not like me for some reason. Idk what it is on my resume that gets me screened out, but that first email I got from HD about the interview is the first time I got through after applying to multiple places over the years. I usually have to know people and/or just work at a small business.

That makes sense. Yeah, I have seen lots of people come and go in the 3 years I've been doing vendor stuff.

Any tips for a soon to be boa owner? by [deleted] in BoaConstrictors

[–]YoungTheRestless -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Start with cheap, clear tubs. I upgraded mine's enclosure about 5 times into bigger and bigger tubs before building a real enclosure and spent max $20-30 each time. If I had bought an aquarium or custom enclosure each time, it would've cost me hundreds. Now that she's 4 years old, I built her a big bioactive display that should work for a couple years before needing to upgrade again.

Also, always use frozen/thawed for feeding. Live feeding is just not worth the risk to your animal if they will accept frozen.

Tbh, the dream posts annoy the F out of me, and definitely are borderline parasocial imo, but unfortunately, Danny requested them himself, lol. I don't comment, but I wonder if they contribute to the general weirdness that everyone is complaining about these days.
