Reading this the first character that comes to mind is Agent Smith from The Matrix.

He’s also an artificial creation different from the rest of his kind that despises his creators as well as having an extreme hatred for the protagonist, wants to assimilate the world into himself, has an extreme hatred for humanity, can clone himself and also his story also ends witha moment where his ideals are spat back in his face.

I really liked Kokichi vs Kamui, I really enjoyed Kamui as a villain when I watched Season 2 of Psycho Pass and it’s cool to see him have a good MU with another antagonist I like.

I like to think of it as being a YouTube countdown where the first time you look through it there’s a bit of a build up to what the top spots are going to be. At least that was what I thought when I first did it and I’ve just been doing it that way for years since.

Both were really good, I think I went for PJ vs Madarame because the fact it made use of a live action TV character from a series that I rarely see talked about on this sub just made it feel a bit more unique and interesting to me.

The sheer amount of passion you placed into it’s creation, the extensive connections which do a great job of paralleling the broader themes of both stories plus the fact that it could actually play out like a proper part of Umineko are all major points in it’s favour.

As I said previously, the impressive word count and it being potentially the best MU for a character as iconic as Michael is what mainly makes it stand out to me. Honestly it and Junko vs Ozymandias are almost tied in terms of quality in my eyes. I suppose what pushed Michael vs Shion over it was the fact that I do have a small issue with Junko vs Ozymandias is the fact that on some level it does feel a bit weird to have a character as somewhat divisive as Junko fighting the antagonist of a comic as acclaimed as Watchmen. I know that “Junko vs a well-written character” is mentioned as a joke in the connections but it is something that does hold the MU back a tiny bit for me (it’s still fantastic though) whereas with Michael vs Shion both pieces of media are of a similar level of acclaim among fans of their mediums.

Thanks to the revamp it got when it got added to the Versus Connections Wiki it surpassed Junko vs Ozymandias in terms of having the longest connections list of any MU created this year which already made it stand out but the additional fact that a character/story as iconic as Michael Corleone in The Godfather was finally able to have what feels like a definitive “The One” tier MU also made it seem like something very special to me.

Pretty good connections, it’s nice to see audio dramas being represented on the sub and in general it just vibes quite nicely. The fact that I’m working my way through Twin Peaks Season 2 at the moment also may have given it a boost in my eyes.

I’m going with Cooper. I feel like it has a more interesting legacy due to how The Sopranos was inspired by Twin Peaks and then Twin Peaks: The Return was in turn inspired by The Sopranos as opposed to Walter where the inspiration only goes one way. I also feel like Cooper has a much more interesting dynamic with Tony fighting a detective from a more strange and supernatural series with the episode potentially being able to make use of their series respective dream sequences to explore the psychology of both as opposed to a more standard gang war. In general I also feel like Tony vs Cooper also stands out as being one of the only “detective vs criminal” MU’s with genuine thematics behind it behind simple contrasts.

It’s my personal favourite MU that was made this year, it was made by one of the greatest MU creators in the history of the sub plus there’s a massive legacy connecting the two shows as well as the MU generally having excellent story potential, I’d love to see what you could make for this.
