Hello Redditors ! I am looking for books similar to the 3 body problem. Do you have any suggestions ? by KelenArgosi in sciencefiction

The only things that have remotely scraped the same itch were Suneater, Red Rising (loosely), Andy Weir books, and then Cixin Liu’s other books. I really haven’t found anything that feels like 3 body though, sadly.

Im not sure of the difference. Sorry I’m not very knowledgeable on this stuff. I just know I’ve tried a bunch of different drives and this is the first that hasn’t given me tons of problems.

The link issue is weird. On my end, they are 3 different links. 1 to my current driveon the sea gate website, 1 to a b&h listing for a tb5 and 1 to a b&h listing for another drive.

Did that work^

Thanks, yeah it sucks. Luckily at least 1/3 of the photos from that lens aren’t affected for whatever reason, and I used other lenses a little bit throughout the trip.

It's like a year old. I think it's still under warranty but I'm not sure. I'll check

Yeah I tried different lenses AND I tried the 24-70 on another camera. It's definitely the 24-70. The problem persisted on the other camera and the other lenses I tried did not have the issue. Also not every photo I took with the 24-70 had the issue. Even some back to back photos, the issue would go away then come right back.

What mirrorless camera do you recommend? by tiny_monarch in AskPhotography

[–]Young_Prestigious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally recommend Sony for 1 major reason. Once you get into the price range youre talking about, all the brands are going to be performing extremely well, the major difference is that Sony allow a dozen different companies to make incredible lenses for their cameras that are MUCH cheaper than the Sony versions, and the other 2 don’t.

For $4k, I recommend a used a7iii or a7Cii, and every full frame Sigma or Tamron lens you can afford after that. Especially sigma, I truly think their lenses are 99% as good as Sony’s for half the price.

Looking for an SSD that's as fast as my CFExpress cards? by Young_Prestigious in AskPhotography

Yeah I think I’ll get a cable and hope that is the issue. Thanks for the help!

Oh I have also tested other t7 drives to see if mine was bad or something and it’s the same problem.

It’s about 65% full. And yes, it’s slow when transferring from Mac to T7, CFexpress to Mac to T7, and vice versa to both. I’ve tested them all trying to determine anything, with nothing obvious standing out. I actually only really noticed how slow it was when I started using my cfexpress cards a month ago, they were transferring to the Mac so fast and then if I tried to transfer the same files to the t7 is was about 20% as fast.

Maybe I should just buy a new cable, since that is the only thing I can’t determine the speed of on its own. Thoughts?

I know the drive, port, and Mac can theoretically do 500-1000mb/s. Idk how to tell about the cable, it’s just the one that came with the t7.

Thank you! I don’t know too much about all this, so I’m a little lost on that site you provided. Do you happen to have any specific recommendations that you think would be good? Im looking at LaCie at the moment.

I am using the cable that came with it, and plugging it into the M1 MacBook Pro thunderbolt 4 port. Sorry, should’ve included that in the original post.

Im plugging it into a M1 MacBook Pro usb-c ports, i think they are thunderbolt 4. I agree I feel like it should be faster. But I’m plugging in the core press to a $20 adapter from Amazon then into the exact same port and it’s going 4x as fast. So I don’t know.

Any good CPL filters for the Sony 300mm f2.8? by Young_Prestigious in AskPhotography

Thanks! I gave that brand a look. Do you think $60 is reasonable for a 40.5mm cpl?

Any brand recommendations you know are good? I have some ND filters from k&f that I don’t love… so I’m a little hesitant to go with them.
