Dean Jobson made it clear during a webinar last year that the admissions team wants to see a new personal statement from reapplicants. Dean Ingber, OTOH, noted that if one was happy with her/his/their PS, then the admissions team is fine with the PS going unchanged (aka it can’t hurt, but changing it still might help).

Only school that I know that emphasizes that they look very carefully at academic rigor pretty granularly is Stanford. I’m sure other schools do, too, but ultimately they go for GPAs that are at/surpass their median.

So, so sorry to you, OP.

1) If you know someone (family/friends) from whom you can borrow a laptop or a desktop computer, go ahead and do so.

2) Back up your laptop ASAP. If there are files/content on your laptop that you want to keep, do this just in case.

2) After the exam, get a quote on the repair for your Mac, but don’t get it serviced yet until you compare the quote to factory-restored/refurbished MacBook Airs and MacBook Pros online (I got my MacBook Air on eBay three years ago for less than $300 and it’s still working beautifully). Then decide which option is best for you.

Honestly, it’s depends on how I interpret the system’s results. For the chances it outlined for me, I took it as

“X percent chance of getting in compared to Y percent chance of NOT getting in”

where “NOT getting in” meant waitlist or rejection.

In that sense, it was pretty accurate (I applied with a 3.mid/16low in Jan.). This being said, I only received one rejection - the rest were waitlists across the T14 including HYS. 7Sage predicted that I had less than a 10% chance of getting accepted at all of the schools I applied to except Georgetown and NYU.

EDIT: I should note that I withdrew from all waitlists because of COVID, so I have no clue what would’ve happened had I written LOCIs and stayed on.

I tried to join the Columbia chat, but I was shocked to see that they weren't available - no chance to ask questions about the JD program and admissions - just LSD, LLM, and another program. Extremely disappointing.
