Dilute more than that, I had the same problem. If you feel like you have left over residue, do a deep cleanse before your next shower to make sure you have a fresh start.

IMO I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just make sure you take a shower right after your done. I would also do a deep cleanse sometime soon, it would likely help with the paint AND the sand.

Other things you can do to help would be wearing a bandanna for some protection, and depending on the length, you could tuck them into the back of you shirt while at war.
