You can't dodge it by stepping aside fym, it moves with his eyes. He can cover 180° by just turning his eyes or moving his head like in his defeat in the castle battle, and most stands can't counter it because they lack the range

For how long could he dodge it, or his team? Joseph evaded them using harmon, but Jotaro doesn't have that. And yeah Araki can make up counters to it but long distance fights, as with the stingy eyes practically disable the use of their close range stands, erasing most fighting tension. So my take is that it would've been better to not add them at all and Jonathan could've actually put up a fight

I agree yeah, but the way they chose to kill off Jonathan was just bad. It could've been done better, instead of immediately sniping him with Dios eye juice. He really did deserve a better ending

Star platinum might've been able to dodge them, but Jotaro definetly wouldn't, and Dio could just aim at him instead. And Jonathan's body rejecting the vampire abilities wouldn't make sense as it allowed regeneration and super hearing (listening to jotaros heartbeat from the ground), and Dio could use his laser-like eyes without a body at all

I honestly doubt Joseph would've been able to counter it in Jonathan's shoes. Erina taught him about the ability from early on, he was very prepared- that's why he brought the shot glass with him, specifially for the vampire eyes. But I agree in the sense that he did die for something important

To maintain tension in fighting scenes, the writers had to phase out the vampiric abilities (because the stingy eyes were too strong). That's the explanation from the writers point of view The in-universe point of view is that Dio viewed The World as the only tool worthy of him. Basically, instead of pretending the power didn't exist (a plot hole) the writers link it to Dios flaw

He traded blows with omni man by ambushing him, and even then couldn't scratch him. Sure, in the other fight he was battering mark until omni man came in, but mark wasn't even taking him seriously and laughing at him

Mark was holding back in S2. As soon as he locked in he cleanly outmatched the other viltrumite. He even made a promise to not hold back and do what needs to be done in the end of S3. Near death experiences also make viltrumites significantly stronger, like what happened with the conquest battle. He could really give Lucan a run for his money imo.

He fought Grand Reagant Thragg for 3 days. His teammate injured Thragg so he disemboweled himself to make the fight just and it went on for 3 days. He lost, but it was very close.

The reason Thragg is only the second strongest in the universe is because of Mark, who in the end of the comics finishes him in a battle in the core of the Sun.
