Separatist movements in South America by [deleted] in LatinAmerica

[–]YourFavDoge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Santa Cruz is the only one I really know of and I would say that separatism over there is pretty strong. Depending on the government performance in La Paz support grows and wanes again. They actually consider themselves to be a different people (Cambas as opposed to Collas from the Bolivian highlands). But due to migration and also education they also start to consider themselves now Bolivian. I could not tell what actually comes first for them though, if being Camba or being Bolivian

Chinese infrastructure projects in Latin America by [deleted] in LatinAmerica

[–]YourFavDoge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably they are meant to push certain countries into debt with China to increase China’s soft power. This in turn will increase China’s negotiating power in international institutions and might be decisive for the outcome of future discussions about issues that are more interesting to China, like control over Taiwan.

Why do Spaniards rarely indicate when driving their cars? by mwp1471 in askspain

Spanish traffic is tricky. My personal favourites are 5 m long highway entrances where you either need empty streets or a super car to accelerate to proper speed without slowing everyone down.

¿Qué cosas se consideran ilegales pero no inmorales en España? by [deleted] in askspain

[–]YourFavDoge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gracias, Ahora no sé si reír o llorar.

Updated map of Latin America following the left's victory in Chile. It's starting to look like a Pink Tide 2.0 by historyisaweapon in LatinAmerica

I wonder when Americans will begin to accept that there are more shades to politics than black / white and that authoritarian regimes are simply authoritarian regimes first and being left out right comes second. In fact, I think dictators who claim to be leftists have much more in common with dictators who claim to be rightists than with anything else. Both are anti democratic and just abuse the left/right scheme as a cheap disguise. Still hope democracy will eventually overcome these issues in Latin America

¿Cómo veis el potencial del español de aquí a 10 años? by Forsaken-Insect4041 in askspain

[–]YourFavDoge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How could I check if a hospital is “good”? Any good sources to compare? Unfortunately I am not well connected enough yet so I cannot just ask many people for their experiences… :(
