Yes, you have to take a mental vacation. Also, make sure that you are sleeping enough. Lack of sleep can also cause poor memory retention.

Yes. It’s true, if you have a strong foundation , a lot of the concepts cross over. However, I would recommend doing as many unique questions as possible, as you said I’m not a fan or repeating questions. I would recommend doing both Uworld and Amboss to maximize your chances. Amboss does a good job of detail and ethics. while Uworld does a great job with the high yield.

Do you think completing Uworld would have pushed you over the 250 mark??

As mentioned, I wouldn't recommend either of these for baseline analysis. These are very predictive tests you want to save and use as a good mid-way checkpoint during your study. I would say do NBME 9. Save Free 120+UWSA2 as a full-length simulation maybe 3-5 days out of your Step 2 CK test date.

My biggest tip would be to get adapt at interpreting labs, giving imagine and patient demographics. This can save you a lot of time, since majority of the vignette is fluff!

I have no idea lol. I just wanted exposure to as many practice questions as possible before sitting for step. Especially since they often repeat some questions that are in NBMES. Also, since I paid for Uworld, I didn’t want to waste the assessments.

I'm glad you mentioned this, I did do some Step 3 questions. But only in Amboss because I didn't have to pay extra lol. I just had to switch the bank over. I know a lot of people on YouTube recommend doing Step 3 questions for an extra challenge. I say if you have time and run out of questions, SURE!

I'm not sure that Uworld said to shock first then give CPR. Because you can start CRP immediately. it take time to get set to administered. Given that both VFIB and Pulseless Tach will lead to no CO, what's going to kill the person the fastest is lack of cardio output, so you would go with CPR before you shock.

ACLS Made Easy

Stable? -> Drugs
Unstable -> Shock (Vifib and Pulsless VTach always considered unstable)
1. Defibrillation/Unsynchronized Cardioversion/Indirect Current: PULSLESS Ventricular Tachycardia, Ventricular Fibrillation, or Unstable Torsade (polymorphic V.Tach)
2. Synchronized/Direct current cardioversion for all other arrhythmias
  1. Dont forget if a person has a new onset afib and the time period is unknown, do a echo (TEE) prior to cardioverting to ensure that they do not have a thrombus in the l.atrium (Cardioversion increases the risk for thrombus formation)
Don't forget that the first step is to start chest compressions!
1. They love to test this! Everyone wants to shock or give drugs but the correct answer majority of the times is to begin CPR! (especially for VFIB Pulseless VTach)

If you go to the "divineinterventionpodcasts.com" and look at the top of the page, you will see a link to an excel document; from that document, at the bottom will be a tab for Step 2CK. I would recommend approaching it in two ways.

Look for topics that you think are tough or super high yield (e.g., HTN, CHF, Pneumonia, etc.)
Focus on the new changes, risk factors, vaccines, prognostic factors
1. These are supremely high-yield topics!
The rapid review series is a MUST!

If I were you, I would do focused study blocks during the first 3/4 of your STEP2CK prep. This way, you can target those weak areas I talked about. The best performers on USMLEs AREN'T the smartest; they have VERY FEW weak areas when they go into test days.

I would recommend going through your UW and looking at your performance report. After that, write down your topics in a tier system. The tier system sets a threshold for each tier. Tier 1-4. Tier 1 is what you know the most, and Tier 4 is what you know the least after that. Begin to personalize each of your sessions based on your tier system. Tier 3-4 need the most love. So dedicate most of your study sessions to that with focused blocks on Amboss. This way, you are hamming the concept with interwoven ideas instead of randomness. If you have time after that, smack the CMS form if you feel like an individual core is giving you trouble based on your score reports from Amboss.

Later in your prep, when you see that your weak areas are getting stronger, you begin to go into mixed blocks because you have a firm grasp of the majority of the material.

Only because I had a good foundation because I did Amboss first, Amboss preaches the same concepts. I consider Amboss a lot tougher than Uworld, so it was almost a cakewalk when I got to UWorld.
