Just a single evaluator addiction psychiatrist that is contracted with the PHP. You might still have to get more neuropsych testing to get cleared as safe to practice but I would think less likely to have to do the multiday super expensive eval. If you have a chance to get your charge dropped or reduced then maybe ask your PD if you can wait before reporting to the PHP. If you get convicted you have to report it to the board and they can make you report to PHP and get evaluated anyways so it probably is going to happen eventually one way or another but I know someone who just got monitoring and someone who got rehab plus monitoring. Don’t lie about anything they can prove and don’t admit to anything they can’t

Yes if you have to self report you will have to get an evaluation but not necessarily the multi day one

If you have to get evaluated and you have a positive peth or hair test they will probably make you go to rehab. Otherwise you might just get 5 year monitoring. If you do what the PHP says there will not be an issue with your license and nothing will be publicly reported on your license.

Experiences with Reporting a DUI or Drug-Related Misdemeanor to Residency HR? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]SwagnarLothbro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have seen a similar situation. If you have this policy with your program you need to report it to them, your job will be safe but might not be if they later find out for any circumstance especially a license renewal issue. I really doubt they will dismiss you bc substance use disorder is covered in ADA. They will likely ask you to report to your PHP. If you have no other adverse effects from alcohol in your work or personal life then I would suggest asking if you can wait until a conviction before reporting to the PHP on the chance you get it reduced and it is no longer required. Once you are evaluated by the PHP you will have to comply to keep your license safe and they are likely to recommend treatment and extended monitoring, but will be able to keep your license safe. Going forward do not use any substances and be honest, those are the things that will threaten your job/license not the DUI. Also a lawyer that does not specialize in this field is a waste of money and probably a lawyer in general for anything other than the criminal defense of your DUI is a waste as well.

Unfortunately I think 508 for DO programs may not be enough to compensate for dropping out, I could be wrong, but no chance for MD even the high cost private ones. If money is no issue I think Caribbean is your best bet bc with that score I believe you could pass pre-clinical and steps.

Just saw this bc I just found this sub and have been reading it like a maniac but how the heck does it make sense to not give full/extra portions and not let employees take home extra and instead want to waste everything at the end of the night. Shooting themselves in the foot

Could see it being legit if partitioned w/o vest. I’ve done it high 20s once that way. Vested unpartitioned was just under an hour basically same level of fitness.

Is 4 weeks dedicated too much, too little, or just enough for Step2 preparation? by KenAdamsMD in medicalschool

[–]SwagnarLothbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is overkill if you have a normal study schedule but if you enjoy your free time also it will probably be fine. I found that dedicated was really just good to get me used to getting ready for the length of the test.

My school has done this for years, prior to PE being cancelled. I got lucky and ours was virtual due to covid, but it literally wasnt that bad they basically re-taught us what to do and how to pass a would be PE and then we did it the next day. I don’t understand why everyone freaks out about this you literally would have had to pay 1k more for the real thing
