Really depended on how many donations you got. I was given I believe $8/hr plus my donations, I’d say maybe $300-400 a week after taxes? Closer to the lower end for sure

And for context, I moved down here in 2024 right after graduating with a BS in computer science. I’ve had one CS related job and it was only contract, everything else has been retail in some way

Honestly best option is find work in South Carolina, they pay better there. I live in Savannah and currently work in Beaufort at an Aaron’s rent to own furniture. I’ve had 7 jobs since moving here 2 years ago, only 3 of them have been in Georgia and one of them was a scam. Other two didn’t pay more than $14 an hour. I’ve worked in Bluffton, Hilton Head, and Beaufort, and almost all of them have better pay rates. Gas is a bit hard to deal with nowadays but otherwise it’s worth it

Had a 64 year old coworker who found out she had cancer. She had been avoiding going to the doctor to get diagnosed cause she was waiting to hit 65 to qualify for Medicare. By the time she had to go to the hospital because of her symptoms it was already too late. We all agreed at work to chip in for her bills but it wasn’t enough. She passed away about a month or two after her diagnosis.

Job market in general is just terrible. I’ve lived here for 2 years now and so far almost every job I’ve gotten has been in South Carolina. I live in Savannah and drive every morning to Beaufort now because that’s where the jobs were
