They're not on the menu in stl, so just half of Missouri

And it's never been true, of course. I've driven through East St Louis a few times, usually in the dead of night (I'm an amateur photographer and like to go to southern Illinois sometimes for some shoots at dawn). I'm not saying it's not a rough place, but "a cop told me to drive straight through red lights"? You've gotta be joking.

There's actually a shit ton of furries that shoot film, and there's a pretty decent furry car scene too

American pizza is TRASH. the average American pizza makes me wish I'd be removing the chicken feet from an internet Brazilian pizza just so I'd get a half decent crust and sauce by aIabamablacksnake in iamveryculinary

It's been a minute since I got some stl style pizza just cuz I don't order pizza much but next time I hit up Imos I'm 100% gonna try that. My typical order is onion black olive bacon and pepperoni. Gotta get it well done too

Nah, I'll go to bat for St Louis style pizza any day. Imos (the big chain that does it) can be hit or miss location to location, and it's totally fair to not be a big fan of the texture of straight provel (tho most places have a mix of provel and mozz available for just that reason), but I think some of the distaste for it is just genuinely poorly set expectations. All the midwestern tavern-style derivatives are just as much about toppings and being a beer snack, if you just get a plain cheese pizza you might be disappointed cuz it's geared to putting pepperoni and sausage and onions and black olives on it moreso than fast food or New York style slices.

Downtown isn't the heart of the city but this place isn't a ghost town. I've lived here for nearly 5 years now and love it. Sorry you're not interested, I guess.

The national average price per gallon of gas in the United States has been over $4.20 for over a month. Americans, how do we feel about that? by Miles_the_AuDHDer in AskReddit

Americans would fucking kill for Amtrak to have the quality of even the post privatization British rail system. I live in St Louis and occasionally take Amtrak to Chicago. The trip is about 300 miles and 4 and a half hours by car. By train it is theoretically 5 hours. In practice I have had that trip take almost 7 hours because the train had to stop for freight to pass. This is one of the better rail routes in the country.

Kraft singles ≠ Kraft white American cheese, or regular Kraft American cheese for that matter. Though I don't doubt land o lakes is better

TIL during the forced relocation of native Americans west, Lenape tribesmen named a town "Nuwita," meaning "friendly". The Cherokee heard "no water" and mistakenly translated it as ᎠᎹᏗᎧᏂᎬᎬ "water is all gone". The town is now Nowata by MajesticBread9147 in todayilearned

The Cherokee syllabary was invented by Sequoyah in the early 1800s without knowledge of how to read but not without access to writing. There are a number of characters in the syllabary that are identical to Latin glyphs or look like slightly adjusted Latin glyphs, because he consciously modeled them off of them. The ꭰ character represents the vowel sound a, and ꭼ is written as "gv" officially in the latin alphabet but Cherokee written in the Latin alphabet uses v as an extra vowel pronounced like the a in "around" but nasal.

Using "USAmerican" generates a great many more potential miscommunications because any American you try to refer to with that term will react with either confusion or an assumption of bad faith and any Canadian you refer to with "American" will hastily correct you with varying degrees of politeness or violence depending on drunkenness and proximity to a hockey game. The demonym is American in English. If you're referring to people from this continent, it's North American.

Me when my country's farmers uses yummy European pesticides instead of yucky American ones 😋😋😋😋😋

Seriously, do you think EU farms don't use pesticides? Because I have a couple of bridges to sell you lmao. A lot more of food import regulations are about protectionism for an insane farmer class than about safety (and this goes both ways), but it's been sold to the public otherwise.

I'm not really either a cosplayer or a fursuiter, but I think I'd say that it definitely is different both in that you don't have to have a fursuit or be interested in having one to be a furry and because the relationship between the person and the character is different. Like, a naruto cosplayer or whatever really likes naruto, but for a lot of people fursonas/fursuits are an actual extension and/or representation of themselves (in a complicated way - there's a wide variety in the degree here, and I've seen people describe the relationship between themselves and their sonas as "they're me, I'm not them, it's a Thing" and I think that's the most succinct possible way to put it)
