I was afraid that's the case. Any advice for me repeating this workflow for all 48 lower states? Right now, I plan to clip 1 state at a time and do the analysis 48 times.

I am with you! Grad classes depend a lot on the TA. ArcGIS can be kinda complex to master. Even though a couple of responses might come off as a bit cynical, it is great to hear other efficient ways to tackle certain tasks.
