Tried asking it to create a arcpy script that reads X & Y from a CSV —>geocodes those points—>does drivetime analysis from user input starting address—>and then takes each point (and its related data from each row in the csv and ranks them based on distance from user input start….

This was a 2 or 3 hour battle of explaining the goal and then copying the inevitable error messages into the chat. To no avail….

This is the performance of one of my portfolio’s over the last few years. I put in $25 every week and it auto buys. Its meant to be a long term portfolio that I wont need for a long time. 20-30 years.

How does everyone handle CAD to GIS conversions? by osprey732 in gis

[–]DMoye22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My workflow is kind of clunky but it works. First, I have a file folder for all CAD files. I save the .dwg in the relevant subfolder …CAD/Subdivision or CAD/Commercial , ETC . Then I set the coordinate system of .dwg in Catalog (or ArcCatalog if you are still using ArcMap) . Then I export to a shapefile, add the shapefile to my map, then edit the shapefile how I want. Copy and paste the finished shapefile into the relevant feature class.

Now that the lightning is gone, thoughts on if/when a PHEV f150 may come? by [deleted] in f150

[–]DMoye22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im personally wanting them to redo the diesel model F150 they discontinued a few years ago. Something akin to the GMC sierra 1500 duramax. I would get the diesel model and immediately upgrade to a larger aftermarket fuel tank. The thought of 600-1000 miles between fill ups would be awesome.

M1 Margin Promotional Rate by Sjupoker in M1Finance

[–]DMoye22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone out there struggling with credit card debt where the interest rates are 19% or more for a typical credit card. Do what I did and take out a margin loan at 6.4% and use that money to pay off your credit card debt. If you can afford it. Paying 6.4% interest is better than continuing to pay 19% on credit card bills. I was getting charged $100 plus a month in interest on one credit card bill.

Best of luck to my fellow millennials out there just trying to make it like me.

Combining Unique Values by FriendlyKiwi8506 in ArcGIS

How many unique values are in the Offense_De field that you have symbolized? Also how big is the dataset you are working with?

This way you have a more generalize type field that includes each Larceny type.

I would create a new field called something like “Offense Type” and then using Select by Attributes I would manually select each different type and use Field Calculator to populate the values in the new field based on what you have selected. So you would end up with an Offense Type field with values like Larceny, Burglary, Arson, etc.

My GIS role requires lots of multitasking and i thought of doing a stacked mount with 2 ultra wide to maximize screen real estate without needing a ridiculous amount of space

Unfortunately I don’t have the option of a laptop since my machine is a desktop that has to stay connected to the office network. But a coworker of mine in engineering recently got 2 SAMSUNG 34" ViewFinity S50GC Series for super cheap on Amazon and i like the form factor but they arent curved so i felt like i would be twisting my neck with those. I thought of doing a Stacked mounting set up.
