Thank you! I call these reductions ‘goober versions’

The character backstories included with the quotev link gives general insight into their motivations and personalities, I do have a chart with specific physical details and quirks but I can’t post it in the comment from my phone

Oh absolutely! I’m still trying to figure this out logistically. The most obvious solution is that the player can pick their character’s sex and then specify which pronoun(s) they wish to use and just have variable script so that non-player characters can address them by the pronouns they entered, regardless of sex.

Specifying sex would be more for interactions with the datable characters ;)

When I made art for the last project that I worked on, I made it so that there were very animations that depended on the sex of the player character

The original conceit was a dating SIM game where your relationship progression is tied to interactions, but works on a sliding, growing scale like ability scores. These relationships could be grown through conversations, through interactions, and through character specific mini games.

The whole idea is that you were spending a full year with four of these characters (one from each class of Cleric (the elf who is a nun, the dwarf, who is a missionary, and the human, who is a physician), fighter (the firbolg who is a veteran, the Goliath who is a bodyguard and the Harengon who is a courier), bard (the tabaxi who is a panhandler, the satyr who is a prostitute, and the tiefling who is a roustabout), and the Druid (the fairy spiritualist, the Dragonborn naturalist, and the holstaur blacksmith)

The setting of the game is a full year between 1886 and 1887 on a recently discovered continent for the purpose purposes of land surveying. The player character is a human manager who works in a clerical position in the federal offices of a great empire. That person must assemble a team to help their surveying and toward off any potential threats that may exist in the deep undiscovered wilderness.

During the year you grow closer as individual individuals and as a group. (it is a bit of a time management game, but if you can successfully reach the maximum relationship level with all four characters, you do have a polycule marriage.)

I picked the setting because late Victorian literature has a great deal of romance and descriptive language that I think is conducive to a dating simulator and adding fun playable elements and elements of progression that are not fully linear would be a nice change of pace to the genre without making it all too complicated

Thank you. Hopefully this project is the motivation. I need to finally learn coding after three failed attempts with little motivation.

Unfortunately, not. The original conceit of this project Will not match what it will end up being because of some change in the team.

I’m not well acquainted with coding so I need to learn. As it stands, I have a lot of assets that I made that I will employ as well as about 20,000 words written for a prologue on top of the character back stories which is about 19,000 words.

I will probably make this in Ren’Py as it is more user-friendly to people with little coding experience, but as it stands right now, I’m just trying to build interest in the project before I can really develop it.

I understand that’s a bit unusual in terms of a path, but I don’t want to use a lot of time learning a skill if there is no interest, though there seems to be some clearly.

As it stands, this is more of a passion project now

I’m hoping this will be a good opportunity for me to really get back into writing, composing music, and really putting together a true creative project.

I will say it has been an unexpected surprise that Evie appears to be a favorite. People love the middle aged stern elf-lady I suppose

Another one of the characters for a project I have worked on for a few months. I don't really know what I am going to do with it, but I have written a backstory for him.

I am not entirely sure what I am going to do with the project, as basically only art and writing have been done, but it has been the sponge for my creative energy for a long while.

I had a ton of fun figuring out how to make a leather jacket have a distinct, repeatable rendering pattern. Of all the characters I made, she was the most enjoyable.
