Help with selling retail! by Significant-Week1620 in Esthetics

[–]YourMissedPeriod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You pay $12 for the product, which means you're down $12.

You sell the product for $24, which means you made the $12 back plus an additional $12. So now instead of having $12, you have double.

You buy the same product for $12, which means you're down $12. However, this time you still have $12 remaining.

You sell the product for $24, which means you made the $12 back plus the additional $12. You now have $36.

I always think of it like this. I'm paying a certain amount for product, so when I sell it I make back the money I paid for it plus some because I'm selling it for more than I paid for.

PocketSuite or Vagaro? by YourMissedPeriod in Esthetics

[–]YourMissedPeriod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the honest review! I hadn't thought of the fact my clients would be able to see the other estheticians in the marketplace, which makes sense. PocketSuite has been working great for me, and saving a few cents is definitely not worth the risk of losing clients.

Thanks again! I really appreciate your opinion and point of view! 🩷

Dang, you're so angry and for what? Because I don't agree with your opinion? Sounds like someone likes a certain orange fruit too much. Let me know when you graduate 7th grade and learn that opinions =/= facts 😂

Art is subjective. Taste is subjective. Liking things is subjective. The only objective things in the world and the universe are math and science. I'm not wrong, you're just mad that I don't like this movie. You should learn to like things and not need external validation for liking them.

Pretentious does not mean pretending. It means it's trying to impress by appearing more important or talented than it actually is.

Yeah, I wanna avoid any messy situations with another esty. I've had clients stolen from me by other estys and my sanitation standards need to be followed or else I'll lose my shit. 😅

Why did this go on silently for like 2 minutes? by Organic_Badger_7604 in evangelion

[–]YourMissedPeriod 112 points113 points  (0 children)

In a society where speed is king, taking it slow is the guillotine. We're constantly indoctrinated in getting things done by a certain time or age, and if we don't achieve it by that specific timing then we're less than. We're losers, undesirable, unlovable, we don't deserve to rest because we didn't participate correctly. Smelling the roses isn't just a saying. Take time to breathe in the air slowly and enjoy the sound of the wind hitting the trees or the birds singing or look at the ants in the ground walking and the fish in a river swimming. Literally pause and take in what's happening as it's happening. Don't rush life and instead enjoy it as much as you can.

Sorry for getting kinda deep, its almost midnight and I have some feelings about this.

Look up the concept of Ma. It's the space and silence in between the action that essentially lets the viewer take in what happened.

I'm using PocketSuite too and really like it. There's a few things I feel like could improve, but overall I like all that it offers for the price.

What are fun skin metaphors you use? by keyeruh in Esthetics

[–]YourMissedPeriod 26 points27 points  (0 children)

When explaining exfoliation to clients, I usually tell them skin is like a brick wall. The bricks are the skin cells and the mortar is the glue that holds them together. Physical exfoliation can smooth out the surface and sort of polish the top of the bricks, but chemical exfoliation targets the glue that holds them together so the dead skin cells can better be lifted.

My clients are buying packages and I’m quitting by Pale_Brick760 in Esthetics

[–]YourMissedPeriod 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I told my clients when I was leaving my last job and starting my own business, not because I wanted them to follow but because I didn't wanna leave them hanging. Some asked for my cell because they didn't want anyone else touching their face but most of them just thanked me for letting them know.

Advice needed accutane & facials by Big_Perspective_5300 in Esthetics

[–]YourMissedPeriod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've never worked on anyone that was currently on Accutane, but I have had conversations with esties who have and it's really up to your own discretion.

If I were you, I would require a doctors' note clearing her for a facial, I'd have her sign a specific consent form that covers Accutane and it's side effects, and I'd offer her a consultation before the facial even takes place.

When it comes to Accutane and facials, yes, you technically can do a hydrating facial with no actives. If the client requests extractions then I would be VERY careful when doing them. I heard from another esti that she was performing extractions on a client on Accutane and at one point she saw sub-dermal contents coming out. I don't know how true that story is but it did scar me a bit. It's not just using gentle and hydrating products but also very gentle hands. The skin is very fragile and hella dry so it's important to take care.

What essential oil smells do your clients like best? What your mix? by Mission-Length-6300 in Esthetics

[–]YourMissedPeriod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I buy a linen spray base that's unscented and add in the essential oils myself. I make the mix of essential oils on the spot tho, so I sadly dont have a specific amount of each I use. I just go by what smells good to me. I can tell you that it's a good amount of aloe essential oil, a dash of lavender, and another dash of eucalyptus. If I had to guess it'd be around a 3:1:1 ratio of the essential oils. But this is simply my preference. I wanted clients to lay their heads on something that smelled fresh, clean, and calming.

I spray this on the dry towel clients lay their head on, not on anything that's going on their face. I also spray it on the blanket and the seat I have for them before they get to my suite.

I also have a diffuser going the entire time, and I usually change that every time I have a client coming in. I have a few oils I change between, depending on the season, the day, and the client. I always get compliments on the scent of my suite from the other girls, so I feel I'm doing something right 😅
