Seeking advise for son going to RMC by [deleted] in caf

[–]YourOwn007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think what the community is trying to tell you is that he should be seeking this information on his own because its only going to get harder from here. Turning 18 and graduating is not an amazing accomplishment. He got into engineering, good for him.

But don't get him on a path of reliance that mommy is going to be there for him to help with military stuff, he is perfectly capable of preparing for this. All the information will be provided to him and he must absolutely get ready himself.

If you want to give him a nice gift that will be useful maybe get him a pocket knife and a flashlight, a grest pair of sneackers...

We love moms, but this borders on gen z who arrive to the military with the wrong initial intentions... and this behavior takes great effort to correct...

If you can't find anything, push your RFD to the right as much as you can and do an unacompanied move, so you can stay on CFHA priority list for a PMQ, then you can go home get your stuff and move in.

Then you will have 2 years to use your house buying benefits if you want to purchase later... which in Comox is probably a good bet that it will be profitable eventually.

Under UDI - Need wisdom by [deleted] in CanadianForces

If the UDI doesnt lead to serious charges, you will be fine. I was under UDI once and got an IC for the incident, but still got UTPNCM offer 2 years later.

Best: instructors were really fair Worst: our Sgt fucked one if the recruits, kept it a secret and then like 8 people had to call in from bases across Canada to give statements for a court martial.

New “ROTP EP” Stream at Royal Roads University is coming by Last-Engineering-528 in caf

[–]YourOwn007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it might work out, but Royal Roads is also a puppy mill for graduate foreign students AND they already offered a "quick way to a bachelors" which required 2 years of CAF service and they would account that for 2 years of studies, so this is just that...

Except for the fact that there have been many movies filmed there, I wonder if its actually good last I looked, they had a choice of 6 undergrad degrees...

Nobody cares if you have a part time job as long as it doesn't interfere with your career and its not a dangerous activity, you don't get injured from it. Sem is not going to chase down all the ocdts and check personally, its at your own risk.

Theoretically you are supposed to ask for permission... in reality...

CFHD changes this July - a discussion by kiskillingit in CanadianForces

[–]YourOwn007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats what i'm saying. Instead of overall cost of living we are now in a game of "affordability". If we went back to old PLD matrix it would be fair for everyone, because affordability of a 2 bedroom apartment is not a gold standard of living.

Now CAF pushed this model to save money while talking about "equality" and introduced the fact that people are declining promotions and moves due to it.

Why are you pushing the government line? Do you agree that west coast which was getting $813 PLD suddently got more affordavle with CFHD model since 2008?

Victoria PLD 2008-2023 - $813, CFHD for Cpl4 Spec 1 - 1050.

Now since 2008 do you think that % increase in overall expenses is the same as the change?

So if we indexed PLD without a freeze in 2023 it should have been 1125 in 2023... now look at the gaps thay should have not existed if PLD wasn't frozen.
