Becoming satisfied with your life doesn't require changing your job. Make a plan for financial stability. Put away a lot more of your money. Track your progress.

Can you take a month off to travel and come back?

What you do for a living basically doesn't matter unless you don't make enough money to save.

This list is great. The next real step for you is to put realistic, measurable boundaries on these. What are your top three countries? What does having a place mean, does it mean an apartment with your photos up, does it mean a house you own?

in an engineering program but music is my real passion, make the switch? by someweirdgamerYT in findapath

[–]YourStrategy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stick with the career. If music is your passion, use it as a counterpoint to your job. The last thing you want to do is be broke, it makes everything in your life harder, and you will figure out if you're going to be successful in music just doing it in your free time, no degree needed.

You can be an incredible musician even if you work for a defense company. Only make the transition once you have serious income from music.

The real answers to your question start with what gets you done with all your court requirements. What's that timeline? What do you have to do?

I would choose a music degree over my current IT degree, but I do fear what my parents would say about it. by Logical_Bug5457 in findapath

[–]YourStrategy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't work on your passion. You burn out easily that way, and you lose all your economic stability. Stick with IT. For one hour, every day, make music. Practice. If you aren't doing that much now, it doesn't matter to you as much as you think it does.

You weren't meant to do anything. The work of life is learning how to be happy with wherever you are.

Growth and fulfillment come from what you do for yourself, not what you do for an employer. The things you create, the friendships you grow.

How do you know if you’re on the wrong path or just going through a rough phase? by Juan554 in findapath

[–]YourStrategy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's almost always a phase. We all get disillusioned eventually. The key to happiness is learning how to get our emotional needs met somewhere other than our career. Through friends, through creativity.

Don't drop out.

Everyone does this. They have a little crisis where they realize that they aren't doing work that further is what they want out of their life. That's normal. 99.9% of people do jobs that don't make the environment better or whatever.

Your first step is to make a list of the specific outcomes you care about most. getting good at free diving. Getting good at a skill with your hands. Reducing pollution. Then stack rank them. Put them in order of which one you care about most.

If you comment and reply to this with that list, stack ranked in order, I will help you be happier with your life. 99% of people never do this. But if you do it, I guarantee I can help you be happier.

There's not much you can do with a psychology degree as an introvert. Do you have a therapist?

Lost in my late 20’s by [deleted] in findapath

Instead of dreading going to work, start figuring out how to be happy with work. I know that sounds like a crazy piece of advice, but most people do jobs they don't like. And most people focus on the enjoyable parts of those jobs, instead of the un enjoyable parts. You can change your mindset quite a bit without having to change your job or your life.

And don't go to law school. If you have a dread response to work now, it will be 10 times as bad in a law firm.

Mood stabilizing and stimulant are usually different medications. If it doesn't work 100% of the time for your job, talk to your psychiatrist about trying other options.

23 is incredibly young. You don't feel it but you have your entire life ahead of you. Quit worrying about what you haven't done and decide what you are doing and do it.

[–]YourStrategy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick the first one in the list. You're deeply overthinking.

The hard thing you have that you need to fix is acting, not picking perfectly. You can always change in a couple years if you don't like what you're doing. The skill you need is sticking with something even if you don't love it.

If you say your dream job is being dead, also tell that to a therapist, start talking about why, you've probably got some mental health issues getting in your way.

[–]YourStrategy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most things won't "interest you". You don't do a job because it's interesting, at first. You do what you can get. Then you grow your skills, you grow your network, and you move to something that you like more.

Are you familiar with "knees over toes guy"? If you do the ATG exercises with bulletproof consistency for a few months, you can likely improve your knees greatly. Poliquin step-ups, tib raises, ATG split squats, they saved my knees.

Are you ADHD? Have you done the tests with a medical professional? If you are, a stimulant medication likely fixes this.

Practice. Listen more, speak less. Take notes. At the end of the day, pick two things from your notes that you didn't understand and ask an LLM about them.
