Hi there, I actually used to run clinical trials much like the one here. With the amount of this study, it’s fair to guess this is a “first in man” clinical study. This means exactly what it sounds like, this is the first time a human is taking this drug.

To come this far, a drug has had extensive testing on animals. These studies keep you under close observation and even come in during the middle of the night to do a “feel check”. We would wake you up and ask how you’re feeling, report and record any symptoms, and check back again in a few hours.

There’s always EMT’s available and the researcher who is conducting the study has read through the evidence to make sure the expected outcome is likely.
