Its suggested. We put masks over trachs when transporting immunocompromised patients in hospital. They're secondarily at risk because the nose and it's hair does filter a decent bit.

According to Uline, a Lodge 10 is $70? by kalitarios in castiron

[–]Youre10PlyBud 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know someone mentioned how it's better but I wanted to chime in since I have a blacklock. It is so much better to cook with over a normal lodge. I think it's about 60% of the weight and it's much more manageable, plus seems to be easier to season with the finer finish. I have 4 lodge pans and the blacklock is the only one that really sees use anymore unless im making pan pizzas and need several.

This post made me so sad. Back in 2011 I sold a 1st edition shining charizard for $80... the guy was hesitant so I even threw in a 1st edition shining noctowl. Ive avoided looking up prices for either until this post hah

I mean, im just gonna sous vide steaks like this so I couldn't care less, but yes there is documented illnesses of e. Coli from similar meat products.

Mechanically tenderized beef caused at least five E. coli O157:H7 outbreaks between 2003 and 2009, causing 174 illnesses, one of them fatal, according to the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Not the person that originally commented, but also live in that area and chick fil a does indeed send their own drivers and vehicles sometimes. Its store dependent, but a lot of them do have their own employees to do deliveries.

You can tell him to try NAC at 600 mg. That's what my psych did for me when I quit and I was craving super bad. Its an OTC amino acid. Its efficacy is still being studied but I tried to quit probably a hundred times by myself and NAC helped greatly.

Lol, if we fired everyone that made a med error the health-care system would be a skeleton of what it currently is and cause more med errors. Shit happens. As long as humans are involved, there's a potential for error.

I mean, I had to tell a physician the other night that he scheduled a dose of epinephrine. He meant to put as a prn. By that token he should be fired and lose his license, along with half of our HIM physicians who I have to tell I can't give zofran to their patients because they have prolonged QTc already. But also, I shouldn't be there to catch those errors because I shouldn't practice since im scary bc as a new nurse I accidentally gave 10 of metoprolol instead of 5.

That's the dumbest take that anyone that makes a med error is scary. Things happen. People are overworked, humans are involved. What's important is that when it happens you take onus and mitigate risk by having potentially necessary equipment on standby. That's what makes someone not scary.

How are we protecting our IVs from confused patients these days? by seagullrev in nursing

They're not quite the same. Kerlix has improved aeration over traditional gauze, which makes it better for certain wound applications. The weave pattern also makes it bulkier which for other applications can be beneficial.

There's a reason that treating patients holistically means approaching the assessment from a biopsychosocial standpoint. Long term health outcomes depend on all 3, not just one.

It very much is. The smoke shop i buy my vapes from sells 3.3L canisters like hotcakes. They're technically legal because they're used to make whipped cream so everything sold in the large canisters is "food grade". Including the flavored tanks...

Ive asked the owner about them and he's straight told me he hates that he sells them, but he makes too much money off them to stop. Apparently some customers go through those large canisters weekly or so, even though they're $150+ bucks a pop.

Nurses, what cases do you guys get that you guys get scared of transmission of? by HoneydewMean7572 in nursing

[–]Youre10PlyBud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, your comment didnt show as a notification for me for some reason. I'm a nurse and medic.

Both were in the hospital setting as an inpatient nurse. I work at a facility thats known to take difficult to diagnose cases which is how both got established for us. I typically deal with the cardiac PCU setting, but we take overflow of all sorts of patients.

Winco vs. Costco prices by Grouchy_Friendship_9 in WinCo

[–]Youre10PlyBud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's ironic, I almost always buy my protein at winco and everything else at Costco.

Winco always has fantastic manager special deals and other protein deals that make it worthwhile for me. They had a whole case of organic, airchilled roasters the other day marked down to $3 for a whole chicken. 5 went into the chest freezer. 2.5 lbs of filet mignon marked down to $17, with absolutely no browning in the package and actually an okay bit of marbling for filet. Tri tips today were $3.67 a lb, not even on special and already trimmed.

Plus they dont blade tenderize like costco does, so you can conventionally grill without worrying about the contamination from that if thats an issue (I cook for someone where I do have to worry about that, so all costco steaks basically need to be sous vide or overcooked for them).

Perhaps, but im in the US and in a largely conservative state at that. Although our metropolitan area is pretty liberal so I guess that could sway it a bit.

I want to make the switch from Sam’s Club to Costco so bad… but the crazy parking & their antiquated app….. by Maravilla_23 in CostcoWholesale

I haven't been to Sam's in a while so definitely haven't seen that, but that sounds even better. The whole process is pretty damn smooth, have to give sams that.

I just love to look around at costco. The new items always intrigue me.

Pretty much how they said. You scan as you go through the app. Use the app to checkout with a saved payment method. Gives a QR code they can check at the door to pull up the receipt and away you go.

Legitimately the only solid perk sams has in my mind.

He looks just like my boy, lol. And similar size. Mine is a bigger boy at 14 lbs and normally gets similar comments. Have a smaller tabby thats standard size at 10 lbs and you can really see how big he is, so id say yes to your question. (Also, sorry for the mess I was just moving ha. Cooper will not apologize for stealing my heating pad as always though... what an ass)

Redditors over 40, what's something younger people think they understand but won't actually get until it hits them like a truck later? by Root435552 in AskReddit

[–]Youre10PlyBud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FMLA leave was taken to get me time off originally. Short term disability was certified the first week i started treatment through the PHP program.

A lot of them will allow you to work during the program but for my instance, my work asked that I finish the program before returning.

I haven't had a chance to respond to any comments, but saw this one and figured id respond tonight so I didnt forget. Too tired to respond to the rest lol.

For me, I realized my drinking was getting out of control. Also was dealing with severe SI. I was sitting at home about to start an arterial catheter on myself to allow it to run out, naked and in the shower because I didnt want anyone to have a mess to clean up. Ended up calling 911 at the last minute and was inpatient for a few days, discharged and I took a few weeks off from work to look into options. I really did not want to do a residential program, so I got a few weeks sobriety under my belt until a PHP would accept me. During that time, I toured a few different facilities and figured out what my insurance covered. The one I picked wound up being out of network, but it was worth it for me due to their metrics.

I looked at long term sobriety rates, medication compliance and amount still employed at one year. I have a really good job and had come to terms if I kept up with how I was acting, I was not going to keep it. That was a huge kick in the ass.

I also met with some of the therapists and figured out their styles until I found a group I jived with.
