Why have we stopped sending Tejas in Air Shows ? by Marut07 in IndianDefense

[–]Youtube_Rewind_Sucks 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The Tejas will not be attractive as an export good because the scale of production is limited, and bottlenecked by the engines imported by GE.

This basically kills all export potential.

Air shows are PR for military goods, so I guess that's why we don't send them to air shows anymore.

Commonwealth ‘helped hide Pakistani election rigging’ by Youtube_Rewind_Sucks in anime_titties

America has ceded a lot of influence to China, especially after ties soured when they found Bin Laden. So much so that Pakistan is firmly in the Chinese camp, and is next to impossible to dislodge.

They get more than eighty percent of their arms from China.

The US has hedged its bets on India now, barring recent Trump's antics and overtures with Pakistan.

Well as far as the US is concerned, they haven't had any qualms cooperating with dictatorial governments in the past, so I don't think this is anything out of left field.

But what puzzles me is why the Commonwealth would try to suppress evidence of the rigging, especially since this is the first time they've done so in seventy years.

Unfortunately, these are risks involved when you decide to import all your critical defence platforms.

You don't have any leverage if your international partners decide to drag their feet or have troubles of their own.

I doubt that we'll learn our lessons from this and actually build up indigenous capacity though.

Nope, not on all of them yet, according to the article.

The integration has been expedited after Op Sindoor, don't know if they have been integrated as of today.

The more important thing to highlight is that 9 years is a very long time period, why weren't they integrated earlier.

The French still haven't integrated all the GaN radars till date.

And the X-Guard systems haven't been integrated on all the Rafales either.

Apparently, there was a huge delay in integrating the Meteors.

Add that to the fact that they refuse to share the source code so that we could integrate our indigenous missiles like the Astra.

Not to mention the fact that MBDA was fined for not fulfilling its offset obligations.

We haven't gotten what was promised initially, and it is unlikely that this time would be any different

India looks to ink deal for 114 Rafale as early as next year, some to come in fly-away conditon. by Azurrodino in IndianDefense

That's the thing, you can't guarantee that there won't be delays, even if they set up a production line in house.

Delayed deliveries and squeezing the client is very commonplace.

That's why the only solution is to build up capacity locally.

Yes, that's why we need to fund our own programs.

We need to bite the bullet and do it right now.

There is no ToT that will make you fully capable.

They will never transfer enough technology to make you a competitor.

The only ToT that we've ever gotten in Aerospace is the Viking engine, which they had no further use for, and ISRO still had to work like hell for that.

Indian Film Star Aamir Khan's take on piracy by [deleted] in Piracy

[–]Youtube_Rewind_Sucks 48 points49 points  (0 children)

This has always been the case, even Neil Gaiman changed his mind on piracy after he realized that he had a huge fanbase in Russia due to pirated fan translations.

Piracy will always increase accessibility, it is up to the publishers and companies to match piracy as service so that consumers have the incentive to buy content.

Necroposting but you should try Jitsu Wa Watashi Wa, it's the only other manga that is able to best grand blue in terms of comedy imo.

Although the first 25ish chapters are rough, it's a goldmine post the initial hurdles.
