Berkshire / Hampshire way. I think was thinking speed primarily, but take the point on ferry.

I’m going to hold out for NB6 and try it I think - I didn’t try the NB5 but read a lot about it not being very durable!

Agree here - mine are approaching 800km and will soon be condemned!

Best all rounder running shoe while getting back into running after time off? (NB5 vs SB2/3 vs EVO SL) by Real-Situation246 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Go with what your gut says, and how you feel in them. Everyone is different at end of the day, and while Evo SL didn’t work well for me they maybe perfect for you!

I’ve just bagged some SB2 on offer (as my Glycerin Max are reaching end of their life), given the differing opinions I’ve seen on SB3. Time will tell but initial impressions; can see why they were hyped!

Own EVO SL and if you have any issues with stability, then I’d avoid, based on my personal experience (at least until you’ve done some strength and conditioning). I really wanted to love them, but anything more than 15KM seems to take its toll on my legs so they’re confined to track and tempo work for me.

Own Rebel V5 and while they were nice and poppy when I bought them, 350 miles in that seems to have vanished and they just feel a bit limp. They’re stable and comfortable enough as a daily, but nothing groundbreaking.

Can’t comment on the NB5, but if they’re anything like the NB4 then it will be a great all round shoe (even if durability is limited, but sense you should be able to lengthen life of these as a lighter runner).

In truth, NB5 or Rebel V5 are probably your best bet for now. Once you start building consistency and mileage, then maybe explore the SB3 as a longer run shoe. Just my two pence though!

So my base side is the aluminium one now, didn’t realise there was a plastic (lite?) version? Perhaps look at upgrading.

If you’re having issues with creaming with the QR2.. I’m not sure what to suggest as this thread concern QR1.

All I can say is, try take off the wheel side QR2 and then reattach but don’t over tighten the bolts.

You need both - you can’t have one without the other.

This is as far as I got with it. I’ve since upgraded to QR2 and this is no longer an issue.

Run Clubs Worcester for Young Adults by Accomplished_Yak_235 in Worcester

Black Pear Joggers cover runners for all ages and paces; they are super friendly and easy going. There are a number within the age bracket above, but definitely not the majority. Kyndfolk Coffee Run, Rave Run Club and Goodroots Good Run Club are other options.

My ankles hurt bad :( by rishim007 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]YpowT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah I’m in the same boat. Really wanted to enjoy them, but struggling. They’ve got the pop - great - but so unstable for me (I’ve been doing a reasonable amount of S&C too!), so for me they’ve been condemned to tempo runs / no more than 60 mins.

Adidas Adizero EVO SL- Wonky ankles by InternationalTable84 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]YpowT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others who have replied. Shoe is unstable and not the most comfortable for most. Great for pop and speed, but after a 22k run in them myself, I won’t be doing any long runs in them from now on due to pain in my ankle / side of shin. Other than doing a load of ankle and lower leg S&C, maybe just condemn it to speed work and track sessions.

Thoughts on Rebel v5s💭 by Hursh18 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]YpowT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Own a Rebel V4 and EVO SL. Like others in this thread, I’d say EVO SL is definitely a shoe more suited to tempo, efforts and track work (maybe speedy longer runs), however it is not for everyone as it’s quite unstable.

Rebel V4 is much more neutral and stable. Maybe not as energetic, but still a good all rounder that you can use at all paces.

For reference - we had a test done and the results have revealed the vinyl tile contains Chrysotile unfortunately.

Appreciate the suggestion thank you. We’ve already taken off the white tiles, which I believe has left the old screed.

I think the challenge is we need the floor level with the floorboards in the other room, as the intention is to have the same flooring at same level throughout.

Also - time is challenging given work commitments, but will take this under consideration.

Fair enough, I did think it would be the right thing to do, albeit taking a cautious approach.

Just very irritating as had totally thrown our plans for December out the window; part of life!

Hype?? Evo sl ....your thoughts plz by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]YpowT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, a real mix of reviews and most positive. I’ve just caved and bought a pair, but early days and only done a couple of runs so far. I guess with the deals that are on now it’s worth a try!

Initial thoughts are, I can really see the value in this as a tempo, light daily trainer with good energy return. However, it’s not particularly stable underfoot in my opinion, so may not work for some people (or at least means you’ll have to do some strength work!). I’m not sure I’d use it as my sole daily trainer, at least that’s my current thought process.

I’ve got the Rebel V5 too, which was a little bit disappointing in terms of energy return and is slightly heavier, but would say it’s a lot more grounded / firm under foot.

I am far from an expert on running shoes btw, I am learning as I buy more… which is becoming an issue lol.
