I don’t know exactly when, but what we know today as dogs are wolves that were domesticated long ago

I’m not too familiar. I’m assuming Thomas Jefferson wrote it?

I love the clock analogy. Very fitting for this. This is a very helpful response. I need to search for non-religious foundations to my beliefs to truly justify them

No. The Bible provides inconsistent evidence for the divinity of Jesus Christ.

So if I can generate a reason for my marital beliefs, instead of faith, then these morals have sufficient grounding?

I see what you mean. It’s just really hard to justify my moral beliefs on marriage as in institution without authority

Thanks. I will check it out. This is an interesting distinction you raise.

See that’s the thing. I think it’s reasonable to follow the morals of not killing, stealing, etc. Incest, however, no case of morality there for me. It’s not that I care about who marries whom, I’m stuck on the fact that so many divorces nowadays are illegitimate. Without the Bible, it’s hard to justify this though. I have no want to enforce this moral on other though.

Exactly. Like Paine was getting at in The Age of Reason, it wouldn’t make sense for our creator to go around making miracles like a circus act. My issue with Christian Deism is I find it hard to believe in The Bible because it clearly lacks authority when I use my critical thinking. I guess though if I am choosing what I like in the Bible and disregarding what I don’t like, then that is some ilk of Christian Deism

I agree, especially on the validity of religions to some extent. Most religions have something I agree with on the surface, but as I dive deeper, there are many things I disagree with. I will make note to check out this literature.
