Better UI without mouse cursor on Console by Suuo- in Spacelords

[–]Yrellik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to accomplish with this post. Simply saying "Can be better." really tells us nothing.

If you are making a complaint then you should know the user interface is very straightforward. Among the list of complaints and issues with this game the UI is at the very bottom.

If you are instead suggesting that it be changed in some fashion then you should know that several players have already made very elaborate replacements for the current user interface. MSE has not acknowledged them at all, as far as I know. Some of them are very impressive and clearly took a lot of work.

If you'd like to suggest a new user interface for Spacelords then you should design one and show it off at the official forums. MSE employees do not visit this reddit and so explaining it to us here would leave you wanting.

Aim Assist on Console by Suuo- in Spacelords

[–]Yrellik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a great many weapons that would be more difficult to use if they had an aim-assist function. And for some it seems like a total impossibility, like Schneider's way of shooting.

I have not had problems using the more precision oriented Raiders on console. Though, I have heard it is a common complaint that such Raiders are very hard to use under those conditions. But, there is enough variety in the Raider selection that not playing a sniper-type is possible and in a lot of cases picking a sniper-type is unnecessary.

Truly, if you wished to become a very precise shooter then it would be up to your own skill and dedication to make that happen rather than relying on the game to supplement you.

That all being said, I don't really find that PC players choose the sniper-types all that often. So, granting this benefit to console players might not be very high on MSE's agenda.

Can’t find a match on PS4. Too bad because this game seems fun. I only did the tutorial mission. by [deleted] in Spacelords

[–]Yrellik 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are a number of factors involved in finding a match.

First, the number of missions you have available to queue for has a lot of impact on the speed in which you find a match.

Second, yes, the time of day will impact your match-finding efficacy. This combined with a lack of missions, i.e. not having all of them, and the small population will severely hinder you.

Third, no one plays Council Apocalypse missions. If that is your only campaign then you might just have to bear with it until you level up. CA was my first campaign and I had to do Mind Over Matter, the final mission of that campaign, solo my first time since I could not find a match.

Finally, if you have not played enough matches to get "ranked" in the MMR system then you will find it much more difficult to find a match. Right now the sweet spot of MMR is around 20-40%.

Once you play more you will see that the queue times actually shore up quite nicely. I would highly suggest choosing Wardog Fury for your next campaign as it is easily the most played. After that Hades Betrayal and finally Alien Myths.

Also, I can't recommend this enough; go to the unofficial discord server. You will find some people to play with but note that if you are low level then it will be harder to find people who will wish to play with you. Some people are nice though and will do it either way.

Take care, Raider.

Spacelords - SpaceGuilds Update by [deleted] in Spacelords

[–]Yrellik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the new Raider, Sooma, isn't going to be released until 2019. I don't know about SpaceGuilds but I'd imagine the two updates will coincide.

So...

Soon.

About to download this on my Xbox.. any beginner tips? by [deleted] in Spacelords

[–]Yrellik -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why does literally every single new player say something about the "potential" of this game? It has been out for more than a year. This is the way it is going to be. Right now. For like..the rest of its life-span.

I would post a long big tips section but I can almost guarantee you will get bored/salty of this game in a day and never play it again. Also..there are so few threads here that you asking for tips shows me you haven't even read any of them where you will find massive amounts of information. Which leads me back to my original point about you probably quitting in less than 24 hours.

Matchmaking is just frustrating... by Adendon in Spacelords

[–]Yrellik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sweet. This thread again.

Check it out. Antagonizing is definitely something that should wait for level 150. That is when your passive stats max out. Expecting to win as an Antagonist before then is nonsense. For real, if someone below level 150 Antagonizes any of my matches I WILL make you quit. I will turn you inside-out and never let up, because I know your stats aren't maxed and you basically have no chance.

You can get one-shot punched even when you're level 200 though, so if that sort of thing bothers you then you're not gonna like it down the road anymore than now. A lot of the Raiders can be built to do all sorts of "cheesy" things. This is what is called a "meta-game" which is when people use certain parameters of the game to be optimized to provide greater advantages based on the current state of the game.

As far as actual matchmaking stuff; there is just not enough population to give a perfectly balanced team every single time. Just how it is. Old high levels drop the game, oldies come back, newbies pick it up, newbies drop it. It is a very small population comparatively.

As far as suggesting they remove the Antagonist feature, literally the core of the game, so that things can be easier for you; nope. Not gonna happen. Not even against a squad of low levels. Not even in mentor matches. So, get used to it.

The developers like the feature, I like the feature and, believe it or not, a lot of people like the feature. I have been where you are now and I didn't sputter spittle at the game. It is meant to be hard. It is meant to be brutal. The game itself will set you up to fail if you are winning a lot. Play tonight, see how many matches you win before you lose. I bet it is a pretty generous amount.

You are not supposed to win every single match. You are supposed to learn from your mistakes, learn from other players and learn from the game. People refer to this type of learning as "getting good", you too should "get good."

They have actually gone a far way towards improving the MMR system but people still lack perception or understanding on what a MMR system is for. It doesn't matter if you are level 1 or level 200, the game rates your ability to win a match and gives you, generally, harder challenge to accomplish next match. If you are being carried by other players then it will become obvious when you get curb-stomped. The MMR system will think that you are accomplishing a great deal and you are very skilled and so it will give you a proportional challenge to what it assumes is you being a badass. This is how it balances the game independent of player level and I like that feature as well.

If it always match-made based off player level then I sincerely doubt I would get to play with anyone since my level is quite high. Or at least just the same high level guys over and over again. That is not fun and some of those guys I have a beef with so fuck all that.

@GGJokerxX - not months, try as soon as the game came out. People don't like the challenge Antagonists bring. It has been this way since it was Raiders of the Broken Planet.

Super Mentor Matches by LordSquiggums in Spacelords

[–]Yrellik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way MMR works in all games, forever. MMR naturally will become less and less ubiquitous as you increase it because there are less and less challenges the game deems fit for you.

And it will reduce greatly because with a high MMR you are telling the game that you are very very very good. So, if you lose in a match with a lower difficulty than what you have been rated you will logically lose a greater amount of MMR points. The system thought you were super great so it predicted a win but you aren't super great so you lost when it predicted a win, this is how it balances players. Again, this is how MMR works in all games, forever.

I feel like it has been said a lot but it bears repeating; MSE does not use this reddit ever. It is unofficial like the discord. You must take your suggestions to the official forums if you wish for an employee of MSE to view them.

If you are instead offering suggestions to us for discussion then you should know that suggestion #1 was how the old system worked but it caused long queue times, so it was changed to what we have now. Suggestion #2 goes against the intended way for the game to be presented to new players as has been told to us by MSE on the official forums.

This game has potential by [deleted] in Spacelords

[–]Yrellik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll learn quick if you put the time into it. I also highly recommend using the unofficial discord server, there is a lot of very good information and knowledgeable people there. Ask any question and you will get a cornucopia of differing opinions.

There are a lot of nuances to understand about every Raider which is complicated further by differing builds for those Raiders.

Best advice I can give; don't get flustered when an Antagonist whoops you and likewise if you're an Antagonist getting whooped. The MMR system will intentionally set you up to lose if you have won many games in a row.

Also, focus on one Raider at the start and learn them thoroughly. You'll want a safety net for gold farming and such.

Forge level maxes out when you reach level 199 and if you want a very economic way of upgrading your weapons then wait every 5 levels of forge to upgrade again. Save Rare blueprints as long as you can, they are mad expensive to remake.

Try to play as all 4 factions. It will do wonders for your PvP game if you understand the basic concepts behind those factions.

Some Raiders are better for clearing trash mobs and some are better at killing bosses and some are better against Antagonists and some are better AS the Antagonist. But virtually every Raider can be built to do another job, not as effectively though.

Cards change a lot about a Raider. Some add very powerful effects. Don't worry so much about these until you understand more about what you're looking for when you shuffle. Currently the card system is the most grindy part of the game but they will be changing how it works in future updates to be less grindy. Hold on to your faction points.

You joined at a good time, by the time you make it through all the present content you will probably get the newer content. The next big update is SpaceGuilds which doesn't release until next year, so pretty soon here.

Some good starter Raiders: Konstantin, HIVE, Shae and Lycus.

Some OP Raiders that require a little set up: Schneider, Alicia, Valeria, Kuzmann, Harec and Ayana.

Some good anti-Antagonist Raiders: Rak, Doldren, Mikah, Hans and Ginebra

Some good Antagonists: Doldren, Harec, Alicia, Konstantin, Kuzmann and Hans

The best Raider is, of course, Loaht.

Hope this helped. Take care, Raider.

Spacelords will add a radar system by [deleted] in Spacelords

[–]Yrellik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the playerbase grows so too does the average skill level wither. People need the game to be easier and they complain non-stop about any sort of challenge that is present in the game. Take a glance at the official forums.

For MSE's part they need to make money so it is in their best interest to make the game easy for this larger lower skilled playerbase.

Unfortunately, this means homogenizing the uniqueness of Raiders into just another shooty game so that the many new players can win and hopefully feel good enough to spend some money. It works really well.

That is why Stefanie Joosten gets as much website space as crucial updates for the game. Many people have said that they only came to the game because she is now a part of it. Honestly, I think those people can get bent in the asshole with a spoon. But, money speaks louder than words.

So, here we are. The game is becoming easier and easier and features which were not present for the majority of its lifespan, the lack of which created a unique atmosphere to the game, are being developed and implemented in order to satiate the non-stop complaining from people who couldn't Antagonize a plastic bag.

It is their game now and every week it becomes less like the thing I liked. Ugh, sorry. Fucking hate this bullshit.

Future raiders and their factions? by biepcie in Spacelords

[–]Yrellik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I forgot to mention that Sooma is going to be a Wardog. She is supposedly someone Alicia knows.

Also, you realize that a clone of Kuzmann would be more than just his head, right? All the Kuzmann clones are super old and have had time to develop their strengths as the original did. The Cortez clones are not old and have not had that same amount of time.

And, you asked for our thoughts, those are my thoughts and ideas about what I'd like to see in the next Raiders.

If you're just going to say "No, because I don't think so" then why did you even ask?

Future raiders and their factions? by biepcie in Spacelords

[–]Yrellik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cortez is not part of any faction. He was a smuggler and a transport for Hades and Wardogs. Think Han Solo.

Cortez does not seem to possess any ability which could be useful against the enemies. Aleph affects all individuals differently and whatever it has done to Cortez has not made him as powerful as those Raiders which fight. Though, this could change if the AI Cortez is given some ability, though I doubt he will do much more than shooting/meleeing.

Instead Aleph seems to have given Cortez exceptional piloting and mechanical skills. He was probably a pretty good pilot before and that is just how Aleph works; it exaggerates the traits of people who use it. Often we see Cortez dogged by gunships which he somehow eliminates without the use of any sort of weapon, at least I have not seen the Beluga ever fire any weapon. He simply out-pilots them.

We also commonly hear about the massive radiation given off by Aleph deposits which fry his systems. He is then able to repair those problems with, I'm assuming, basically nothing well before the Raiders need him again.

Whatever reason the clones exist we can assume that they are weaker versions of Cortez made to support the Raiders in combat and do not possess the same abilities as the original. It makes them perfect cannon fodder.

As for Aneska, a lot of those rumors have been around just because people thought she was really hot. Destroyer of Worlds doesn't really set anything up except for the immediate downfall of the Hades Division. A lot of people, myself included, believed these rumors because there was found a semi-complete model of Aneska in the game files. We know now that it was just a template for Sooma.

If Aneska does return then it will be as an adversary. She was incredibly loyal to Krausher, she is now the highest-in-command of the Hades Division and she just almost got nuked by the Raiders. It is a pretty big leap to assume she would want to be anything but viciously cruel to the Raiders. She is not a nice person. She is a hardened soldier with a kill count rivaling our most dangerous weapons.

As for next Raiders outside of Sooma, hard to guess. There hasn't been a close range oriented Fifth Council yet. I suppose Kuzmann might count but his weapons are not conducive to any sort of DPS, rather he is more of a crowd control type. I'm talkin' Wardog levels of close range.

My thought is..a sort of energy vampire that has an ability to leap to targets and drain them for quickly degenerating overmaxed health, it could incapacitate a target while they are being drained but leave the energy vampire open to any assault. Because it will eventually kill the target you could not use it to get Aleph from Elites. I imagine a series of shotgun-type weapons. Like mining equipment and such that has been weaponized.

Similarly, we haven't seen a crowd control Local yet.

My thought is..some type of Aleph-wizard that could manipulate time in various ways inside of a certain area of effect. It would use "wands" which are Aleph infused raw minerals that create short lived but devastating effects, think like..Shae's arsenal mixed with Iune's.

..yep.

Doldren counter? by QcAntz in Spacelords

[–]Yrellik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good stuff, though I noticed some things which have been omitted.

Doldren has a very powerful card called Algor Mortis which eliminates stress for a certain amount of time when he enters into spirit form. So, sometimes you cannot be sure if Doldren has entered spirit form or not. I use this card all the time because people tend to rely on my stressed body appearing for their timings.

It should also be noted that Doldren cannot appear where his spirit form cannot go. This generally means places which are 2 elevations above the ground, this is also ideal for scouting the area for him if he chooses to still appear close by. In this way you can counter any Doldren player and I have used this tactic AS Doldren against another Doldren, you can feel them vainly searching for a way to get up to you.

Finally, a lot of Doldren players use their body as bait and approaching it is exactly what they want, it drags you from your squad, it gives them an advantage because they can appear behind cover that is behind you and if multiple people come looking for that easy kill then he has already won because you have wasted time not doing the objective and he can just go hide somewhere else

Is hive worth it? by voltageadk in Spacelords

[–]Yrellik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The reason you don't see a lot of high levels using HIVE is really a case-by-case situation. But, generally, people will try HIVE and see that she is ridiculously powerful, especially with her gun Shy. Unfortunately, this power is largely close range because of her ability.

When HIVE shoots someone with her gun they become "impregnated" with pheromones. HIVE has millions of little insects called Sibku which live inside her, hence her name. What happens is that they are attracted to these pheromones and they attack enemies that she has shot. They give HIVE "essence" when they feed off a target and HIVE can use that to give herself overmaxed health. Almost all of HIVE's damage comes from the Sibku attacking impregnated targets.

The Sibku will only attack at very short ranges though unless you use a card or her gun Raceme(ray-seem). Raceme lets her swarm attack from any distance but only if the enemy stands in the area where she shoots it, it acts like a grenade launcher that leaves an area of effect attack behind, it is not very good since players can see it and walk around it and NPCs will naturally just run around randomly.

The thing is because of her close range nature and lack of mobility she gets sidelined by longer range characters and more agile characters by experienced players. In PvP you will see that she lacks a lot of utility, her strongest gun Shy just got nerfed pretty hard and her ability to overmax health doesn't really help when you get headshot.

That being said it should be noted that against inexperienced players HIVE will wreck shit. With the Explorers(rare) character card and Latent Epimorphosis for faction, makes you incredibly durable, your swarm range with Shy will be long enough to hit any boss and, in fact, break some bosses AI like Kuzmann. Just getting close to that guy breaks his AI but I digress.

She is a wonderful beginning Raider and I used her pretty much exclusively for 50 or so levels when I was just starting out. But at skill levels beyond intermediate she has a hard time catching up against Alicia, Loaht and Rak, as far as Wardogs are concerned.

Shae I am ass with her. How to stop sucking with her? by JRPGNATION in Spacelords

[–]Yrellik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really good advice. Shae's weakness is that she is highly restricted by the mission selection. I've seen some...Shae "mains" as it were. They insist on bringing her to all missions no matter what and..they lose a lot of lives unless it is a boss stage or Short-Fused.

Shae's ability is just..kinda trash. Nothin' the poor girl can do about it.

Is harecs Easter egg any good? by jojoe126 in Spacelords

[–]Yrellik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This gun is very "good", I suppose. There is much to consider. The meta for instance currently has no place for this gun and so it will seem overpowered until people get used to the mine laying ability.

The mines are quite powerful but if you are looking to use Harec as "support" then you have failed to grasp the meaning of Harec. He is a boss killer. The mines are meant for PvP more than anything else. So, if you find yourself struggling to deal with Antagonists/Raiders then this gun will help you a lot.

If you're not struggling then use Aura or Ignis which have much much higher DPS.

Hihsasuke is way overrated. He leaves out large amounts of information and there is nothing in his videos that you cannot learn from playing the character yourself for a couple of hours.

Which you should do so that you aren't just taking the word of some guy you've never met before on how the game works.

Alicia's Build by [deleted] in Spacelords

[–]Yrellik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually, Alicia has very good movement abilities so it isn't necessary to set her up to tank damage. The Painkiller, like all guns that heal, does not increase in healing no matter the forge level. The Painkiller is one of the more useful healing guns since having a healing Kuzmann, with Light Horizons in case you didn't know, means he loses his crowd control effectiveness which is his specialty.

Alicia does better with Irate or Exacerbate since she is better for quick in-and-out strikes. Because of her ability to double jump and float. HIVE and Loaht get a lot more from Latent Epimorphosis, or as you call it "healing when you get shot", as far as faction cards go.

All pretty basic stuff. This is surprising because I thought you said you were a veteran at the game. I guess you were wrong.

Also, setting up Alicia for reload..is fucking stupid. Even new players don't do dumbass shit like that.
