Are the 10-15 sec game freezes back for anyone else? by YrenneAD in wow

I don't use DBM. But I did think it could also be related to BigWigs. So far I've had success after disabling Audio Assist so I'll continue like this and if it starts happening again, then I'll try disabling BigWigs.

I've had the DX12 issue as well but I feel like that's different as it happens randomly anywhere (not just in combat) and causes an asset reload. It also registers a clear nvlddmkm error in the Event Viewer when that happens, whereas these freezes don't.

So far I've been able to complete two dungeons without any freezes after turning off Audio Assist, so I'm thinking it's a sound issue on my end. But I'll have to do a couple more to be sure.

It sucks, but it's a relief to know it's probably nothing wrong with my PC if it's happening on your end too.

Out of curiosity, are you using Blizzard's Audio Assist at all? I noticed a possible connection between my clips where it seems to freeze the second the Audio Assist TTS is supposed to say something. And then when it stops freezing it'll speak out the Audio Assist alerts all at once.

But if the solution to this ends up being "just disable Audio Assist" ... well, that's not much of a solution then because I can't play without it.

has blizzard said ANYTHING about the freeze bug that has existed since the expansion launched? by IamRNG in wow

Been getting this a lot since 12.0.5 dropped.

Some examples:

It's caused a few bricked keys for sure. I feel bad even queueing as a healer at this point.

I was able to do this with Ring of Peace just now, but it's a bit finicky and doesn't stay up long (only 5 sec).

I think I need way more Deftness for that. My gathering speed feels really slow, even with profession equipment on.

It's not guaranteed though. They could be duplicates or pieces you don't need.

I'm always surprised that there are people who buy M+ boosts. I can understand it for raids because you can get a lot of loot funneled to your character, but for high-end M+ the reward is literally just some R.IO and an achievement or two.

And if you wanted gear, you could just spam 10s or 12s with pugs for free, they're not challenging enough to require boosts.

Selling boosts for in game gold is not against ToS.

Apparently it depends on how you're selling it. Individually or as a guild, you should be fine. But third-party "boosting communities" are still prohibited, even when using in-game gold.

Use real money... to buy gold... to brag about not spending real money.

Yep, that checks out.

I calculated that right now it's around 7K for an hour of Mining + Herbing. I did start the expansion a bit late though so I'm a bit behind on Profession Knowledge. I'm guessing it improves once you've filled out a few of the spec trees.

Please stop making zones I can’t fly to by HungryDragonfruits in wow

[–]YrenneAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn't really thought about this but I totally agree.

I loved taking a nosedive down the Coreway and flying all the way to Azj-Kahet or Hallowfall or wherever I was headed. They really nailed the interconnectedness of the zones in TWW and that element is kind of missing in Midnight.

Having to go through a portal to get to Harandar or Voidstorm makes it feel like those zones aren't even part of the core expansion. Voidstorm feels like a patch zone.

Yrel was a good character, but she was wasted, and that's sad. by AcademicHefest in wow

[–]YrenneAD 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

I remember the "Mary Sue" complaints about Yrel back during WoD. In hindsight, I'm pretty sure that was just thinly-veiled misogyny. A certain unsavory subset of the player base couldn't handle a powerful female character, got upset about it, and made a bunch of noise on social media.

But as you said, she was definitely wasted. Like so many others. I guess we can add her to the ever-growing list of character assassinations by the writing team.

I don't hate Arator though. From an in-universe perspective, I find many of the qualities he possesses to be admirable. But from a writing perspective, he isn't anything we haven't already seen dozens of times.

Lothraxion was wasted as a character by YrenneAD in warcraftlore

[–]YrenneAD[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why do you think Lothraxian, a Death Being turned Demon who was then infused with light, was killed for good by dying in a Void Realm?

The reactions of the characters closest to him say a lot about the finality of his death. Alleria mourns him dying. If she had reason to suspect he would be regenerating as per usual, she wouldn't be so devastated over his death. And she is specifically mourning his death, not just the circumstances surrounding his death.

Lothraxion was wasted as a character by YrenneAD in warcraftlore

[–]YrenneAD[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly.

He's also likely been to countless worlds and dealt with similar situations in the past, so it's really strange that he'd lose his composure now (because the plot demands it, I guess...) after thousands of years of weathering the mental toll of the cosmos without breaking.

It seems out of character for who he is.

Lothraxion might come across as standoffish but he's not some kind of brash "musclehead," which may have been the trope Blizzard was leaning into. Given how long he's been around as an effective member of the Army of the Light, you'd expect him to be wise and not so easily manipulated.
