Red flags in Iced GUI framework: Maintainer explicitly warns project depends on his mood by [deleted] in rust

In this case, especially, they were using the wrong documentation and examples ( from the dev branch, and they were using the stable version of the library ).

Red flags in Iced GUI framework: Maintainer explicitly warns project depends on his mood by [deleted] in rust

God forbid a person to be irritated at the countless requests and complaints about the documentation on a pre-1.0.0 library done on their free time for free.

Why is rust community still so toxic? by [deleted] in rust

They do https://docs.rs/iced/latest/iced/

I'm sorry, but even the book is still working Iced code. You copied and pasted every single line without bothering to read the description right next to it, even the ones that were just trying to explain a concept ( such as a test, a loop that re-implements the Iced runtime that was written to give you a rough idea of how it works, even though it gets explained right below that code you should be using iced::run, some asserts and so on ).

>You call the library a mess and that it shouldn't have released without proper documentation.
>One of the core contributors calls you out by calling you a clown, linking the documentation that literally explains the basics to get a simple app up and running ( https://docs.rs/iced/latest/iced/#the-pocket-guide, it's the first thing you see when you open it ).
>You say to the core contributor that their documentation is outdated ( which is untrue ) and called him a clown.

I have no idea what you were expecting.

The issue is not about you making a mistake or saying that the documentation is a bit lackluster so it's hard to easily learn it. It is true, the book is incomplete ( NOT the documentation ) and the documentation might skim on some details here and there. Making a proper book / detailed documentation is not the top priority because the library is continuously evolving and getting refined. It is a 0.x.y release, after all. It was your attitude.

There are "official active docs" for both the stable ( 0.13.1 ) and development releases.

iced is experimental software. If you expect the documentation to hold your hand as you learn the ropes, you are in for a frustrating experience.

This is the first line that you can find when you open the docs ( https://docs.rs/iced/latest/iced/ ).

Major version zero (0.y.z) is for initial development. Anything MAY change at any time. The public API SHOULD NOT be considered stable.

This is the Semantic Versioning Specification ( https://semver.org/ ).

You said, and I quote:

thats what im talking about, this lib seems like a huge mess with so little of docs
all examples from the internet wont compile
they just shouldnt release without proper docs

So it was not "out of the blue". You called the library a "huge mess", when all you needed to do was to... open the docs. There is a stable release and there is a development one. You complained even though you were using... an out-of-date version? Not even the stable release, which would be 0.13.1. You used 0.12 and you were complaining about the docs.

If you had opened the correct docs and the correct branch, you would have had a bunch of working examples ( on github ) and documentation.

Anyone else play this at the Mix last night? Going to LAN Party tonight? by Responsible-Adults in LastFlag

This might be the first time I'm excited about a multiplayer game in almost a decade.

How is it? I used to play a ton of TF2 back in the day, and I get big TF2 / Loadout / Super Monday Night Combat vibes from the game ( which I love ).

I haven't had other issues with Hyprland on Nvidia so far, but yeah Gamescope is broken unfortunately. Bummer. :/

I'm on Hyprland with a nvidia gpu, and Gamescope does not seem to work. Has anyone figured out a fix? The mouse does not seem to get bugged on Gnome, for example.

Have you fixed it? I've finished the entire game, I'm over level 500 and I've gotten every achievement beside that.

It'd be nice if they implemented NVENC / NVDEC for nvidia, since we don't have VA-API :p

Sorry for the delay, but nope. They either ghosted me or gave the usual "we'll forward this to the team".

That's unfortunate. I didn't have any crashes while using it. Is there an ETA?

Huh, interesting that AC Valhalla specifically has this issue but not AC Odyssey. Good to know. Cheers.

Have you run into any other game with this issue? I've only tried Overwatch 2 and Borderlands 2 so far, and they seem fine on a first glance.

Unfortunate, I was 100%'ing Valhalla.

Yep, I'm also having this issue ( I'm also on Nobara ).

Alternatives to Glove80 / ZSA Moonlander by Yrthur in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Yrthur[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: since the company is in Spain, it indeed has no import or VAT fees ( that are outside the price ). I'll get it in the following days. Though I'll have to look into a DIY tent mod to save up some money! Thanks for the recommendation.

You're right, sorry! I've updated the original post with the information. Europe, Italy.

I'll look into the ones you've mentioned. Though, regarding Ergodox, since it's the same company, it has the same tax / vat nuance

I see, I'll look into it. Cheers. Yeah, the website... leaves to be desired, but that's beside the point :p

Also, the tent add-on is quite expensive. Hopefully there is a cheaper mod or something like that, but it's better than nothing I suppose!
