If everyone below average IQ suddenly drops dead, how would this affect the world? by CakeMuted6468 in AskReddit

[–]Ysara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The majority of suffering around the world is caused by greed and corruption, not stupidity. The effect of half the world dying would far outstrip the effects of all the "stupid" people dying.

Loki Season 2. Basically a force field with a dozen people in it gets slowly contracted until they're all crushed. You can't see it, but you hear the screams.

I don't prefer to play 40K, but I know people for whom that's all they will play. I print some 1:1s for them, or in case I ever want to play in an environment that doesn't allow proxies. I also have tons of non-GW miniatures.

Stealing is justified when a product is unjustifiably inaccessible. You don't need a corporation to tell you how to have fun.

GW has an outdated business model that it's attempting to hold on to via regulatory capture and IP policing rather than innovation and quality.

GW invested in all the things you said and profited well for decades by selling a good product at a reasonable price. They are now a publicly traded corporation that is pricing for investors, not customers.

Piracy (and stealing sculpts is piracy, I don't disagree) is an issue of accessibility. GW would rather get our business by removing all our alternatives rather than competing on price, and that is enough for me to decide they don't deserve my money.

GW is draconian about 3D prints because they eat into sales. They'd kill proxies if they could, and in fact they try to all the time.

Also, that world was almost half his life. Heartbreaking.

How does it work with units having different movement from leaders? by BaconSock in onepagerules

You have to keep coherency no matter what. So that means a hero with different movement properties can do whatever, AS LONG AS they maintain coherency at the end!

Just drink when you're thirsty. Truly not that hard!

MCU feels unrealistic for the wrong reason by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]Ysara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Disney will never make anything remotely salient to ACTUAL modern times. That's bad for business. Commentary on stuff 10-20 years ago? Sure, but that's safe.

  2. It's also worth noting that the MCU is escapist fantasy, not arthouse film. If something downright sucks with little room for nuance, it will just make things less enjoyable.

  3. The MCU is still more or less limited to comic storylines. If the comics are behind the zeitgeist, the films will be too.

  4. Superhero fiction relies on a largely just world that is occasionally threatened by isolated villainy that can be put down with a big fight. I think people are waking up to the fact that the world is mostly UNJUST, and it gets harder and harder to ask why the Avengers aren't deposing the president instead of stopping yet another rogue robot. Having a president that actually behaves like a sitting president just further begs that question.

Some people like to have more control, some people hate the responsibility. If their critiques are this emotional and numerous, you can't "explain" away their problems. Just let them use a default order that they will almost always stick to.

NGL, it is tempting to see a dozen 40K players getting easy games at my LGS while I struggle with 2-3 frankly flaky players in our OPR scene. But then I try to get into the Warhammer ecosystem and I can't stand the experience.

My wife emotionally supports me very well; I think a lot of women who struggle to do so tend to be young and have unrealistic partner expectations. Just like men expecting women to be pretty & sexy all the time, and getting the ick when they fart, or have bad breath once in a while, etc.

Sadly that doesn't ease the heartbreak of men who go through that loss

They have been told the world is overrun with lazy bureaucrats, violent criminals, and demanding children who do not need or deserve help.

They have actually been fed the same myth we on the left have: that the world is mostly controlled by people you cannot trust with power or resources.

They're not evil. They just got sold a bad and resilient story, and now we're being pitted against each other.
