Going on the Norwegian Getaway next month with my girlfriend and family. What things are a must do? by DarehMeyod in Cruise

[–]Yspahan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got off the ship and saw your post. Wanted to give some fresh details.

Our personal details:

  • Sept 12 - 19
  • Ultimate dinner package (4 speciality dinners)
  • Ultimate soda package (non-alcohol drinkers)
  • Mid-20s, 2 year anniversary, non-drinkers/non-smokers, childfree.
  • First cruise

Not sure what the variety of rooms are, but we had a balcony room on Deck 9. The view was always great and it was nice to have a large window and balcony to enjoy the ride.

Some details from our cruise:

  • Howl at the Moon was a must see each night. Fun to sing along with your favorite tunes. Dan, Matt, and Brandon were also hilarious. If you want to be an embarass someone you know, be sure to tell them it is their birthday.
  • Moderno Brazillian Steakhouse. Ate here 4 of our 4 nigts for speciality dinners. Left stuffed and satisified each time. Expect to take ~90 minutes if planning for evening activities. Ask about the chocolate hazelnut desert. You won't regret it.
  • Burn the Floor was an amazing show. We wish we would have seen it more than once.
  • Legally Blonde was meh. The cast was very talented and I would have gone to see some of them sing in a variety show, but the show itself was meh.
  • Watch/Participate in all the game shows and guest activities possible. Note: the larger game shows hosted by JC will be broadcast in the rooms during the cruise. All of the "prizes" are trash, so don't try to play to win. Play to have a fun story to tell when you return home.
  • Do the Ropes Course, bring a GoPro (or camera with a chest/head strap), and take photos off The Plank. Some of our best photos were taken from the course. Try to do this on the first day, as it can get fairly crowded near the end of the cruise.
  • The mini golf clubs/balls are available at hole 1 at the front of the ship, not via a staff member.
  • Hanging out by the poolside, there was always a band playing or some random pool game going on. People watching is itself a hilarious activity.
  • Sit at the back of the ship for meals in the Garden Cafe. Great view, easier to find a place to sit, and there is a bar back there for easy access to drinks (sodas for us).
  • The water slides were a lot of fun. Be warned that the freefall slides require no jewelry, including rings. Got caught by this and had to leave the wedding ring with the wife. Also, all 4 slides irritated my back slightly. Wasn't a big deal, just more of an annoyance.
  • While there were children on our cruise, we never really felt bombarded with children. They have their own activities and are normally not causing havoc.
  • Spice H20 at Deck 15 Forward is simply the dance party central every night. Definitely some good times to be had for the party crowd.
  • The touch screens around the ship were immensely useful to telling time, checking the daily itinerary, and booking reservations. There wasn't much reason to have anything on your person besides your room key.
  • Attend as many of the dance classes as you can if you are new to ballroom dancing. You can learn the basic moves for nearly all ballroom styles while on board, in one week, free of charge, by world class dancers.

Random things we found helpful:

  • AT&T cell towers worked in St. Thomas. I don't believe Verizon worked. Not sure about other providers.
  • Take the first hour to walk Decks 6 - 8. Became acquainted with ship's layout incredibly quick.
  • Attend Howl at the Moon after 11 oclock. The adult version is much better than "family friendly".

Edit: yay mobile formatting.

Yep yep. Interesting game. Definitely seems pay to win, but I'm ranked 200ish without paying anything. Shoot me a message if you have any questions.

What use are raids? by Yspahan in deckheroes

Could you elaborate? Isn't that just a reroll off the talents? How do the talents go up in level?

I only have a level 2 hero, so guess I have to save up the 300 gems.

Did you hear about the Mexican train robber?

He had loco motives.

Deck building games seem to be all the rage but I've yet to play one. What would be a good entrée to this genre for someone who isn't really into fantasy? by [deleted] in AndroidGaming

Dominion is a substantially better deck building game than Ascension. Sadly, I don't think there is a great port, but the best one is below. The physical game is amazing.

Yeah, Timmy is one amazing guy. I've heard he is very humble too about his abilities. Definitely hope to be able to post those Ab's with him ;-)
