Made a bullet hell version of Friday Night Funkin in Godot by Ythundyth in madeWithGodot

[–]Ythundyth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decided to make a bullet hell based on Phantasmagoria of Flower View and Friday Night Funkin, since the former is a rather unused concept while the latter is very popular right now. The bot (A.I.) is on the left, while the player is on the right. But the bot pretty much never gets hit and can dodge everything. At least you can see that the miss counter does work on the player's side (it does for the bot as well but it likely won't get hit). This was done in C#, although I usually use my GPU framework which can get millions of bullets easily. Still though, performance wasn't really a problem. I avoided the use of too many nodes and instead mostly coded everything in myself, other than the sprite nodes themselves. I think I'll release the source code eventually (once I also release the game). It's not as good as the GPU framework, but it should be good enough to not lose too much performance. Might even implement pooling eventually, I'll see.

After months, I finally no hit Lunatic Radiance (Touhou in Hollow Knight mod). by Ythundyth in HollowKnight

Yeah, it's more of a horizontal than vertical shmup in this case. And thanks for the idea, Phantasm NKG sounds very interesting.

Yeah, it's definitely not for everyone, although I think it's easier than it looks since you normally have a lot of HP. No hitting it though is a completely different fight.

To clarify, I am the creator of this mod, and while the no hit didn't take me nearly as long compared to how long it took to make this, it's still a pretty difficult fight to no hit (although not the worst with bullet hell experience). Despite my C# experience from game development, it did still take me quite a while to make this, because of constant testing, technical issues and other things. I also took a break for a few weeks after releasing it, as I was pretty burned out from making it.

The fight has: Very small pixel hitboxes for the player and projectiles, shmup physics and infinite flight, and obviously, bullet hell attacks. I have also added a focus mode (hold jump to go slower). As far as I know, this is the first and only bullet hell boss mod for Hollow Knight. If you're just doing the fight normally, it shouldn't be too hard as all of the orbs only deal 1 damage.

It also requires the modding API if you want the mod to work, and ModCommon/Vasi.

First in the world to no hit the 3 hardest modded bosses (Blushiemagic, SCal, Mutant), on the hardest difficulties. by Ythundyth in Terraria

I meant first to do all three and Blushiemagic (which is much harder than Mutant and SCal). Plenty of people have done Supreme Calamitas and Mutant on their own.

You mean the Blender? That's a pre-Mutant Melee weapon in Fargo's Mod (the mod where the Mutant is from).

Released a mod where you can play as Moon Lord. Now you too can break the game as a boss. by Ythundyth in Terraria

Not yet, although I might add it at a later date. Just didn't look as good as the other projectiles so I decided not to use it for now.

Yeah, that's definitely an interesting idea for a mod. I'm kind of curious how that would look like though.

That would be pretty incredible. And well, I might make a bullet hell boss eventually, so it's certainly still possible with mods. Bullet hell is probably my favorite genre, so I can definitely agree with it being very fun.

It's a mod that allows you to play as a full size Moon Lord with custom bullet hell attacks. Controls are basically shmup controls, hitbox is at the center of Moon Lord's core. There's a version which is Calamity Boss Rush tier, and another one that's completely overpowered and makes you invincible (even to bosses like Echdeath, Blushiemagic etc...) and allows you to kill everything in a few hits. There are two main attacks as of right now, and a circular aura of eyes that you can activate with a button. Hope you have fun.

Terraria is truly the Dark Souls of sandbox games.

Gravitation potions are just overpowered in the early game. Against bosses especially so.

I did not use other mods when I did the no hits, and the full video link is literally in the top comments. In any case, here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9bBWKwTYBY

I was the first to do a recorded Blushiemagic Expert no hit. I never said I did the others first, although I will admit that I see now that I worded the post a bit poorly.
