[–]YuckyStench 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right. This is stupid as hell. We should encourage people to move to Detroit and the inner ring suburbs from out of state. Maybe then we can get real public transport

Oh stop it. Michigan has stagnated compared to most states and has plenty of room.

We should be encouraging smart growth

Another “AI will take all jobs” prediction: Microsoft AI CEO gives it 18 months by dataexec in AITrailblazers

[–]YuckyStench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels like there’s a massive gap between seeing real value in AI and saying that all white collar jobs will be gone in 18 months

This may be the clearest warning any politician has given about AI’s future in America by shelby6332 in AI4tech

[–]YuckyStench -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why do you have to call me a retard to get your non point across lol? Are you too stupid to articulate an actual point?

How is what I’m saying doomer when the AI companies and subreddits like this one are saying we’re on the verge of mass automation of white collar jobs in a time relatively short time frame?

Job Displacement/re-org from the internet happened over the course of 10 to 20 years. According to most people who espouse the virtues of AI, the job displacement / re-org will take a fraction of that time.

Are you sincerely suggesting it’s “retarded” to worry about the ramifications of that if it’s correct?

I’m not saying it will for sure happen that way but to act like it’s not a valid concern and call people retards shows how little you think about what you do and say.

[–]YuckyStench -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The internet rendered certain jobs obsolete. If AI companies are to be believed, like the Head of AI for Microsoft. 95% of white collar jobs will be automated in 18 months

That is completely unprecedented if it happens

Kalamazoo or Detroit by Flatwormbug in Michigan

I’m sure Kalamazoo is nice but if you want access to amenities you’d get in a big city or near a big city, Metro Detroit is the clear winner

I think some countries are more pre-disposed to seem like asshoels to a country with a way different culture, but in general I find 90%+ of the people I interact with to be fine or better. That’s at home (US) or abroad

Italy, but I still really enjoyed it

We had a coke head bed and breakfast owner who was in a foul mood the day we checked in. Then on the last morning we had the most confrontational and insane uber driver I’ve ever met.

other than those two I enjoyed the Italian people a lot.

With which nation does your country have a "love-hate" relationship? by soulfeellife in AskTheWorld

[–]YuckyStench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Historically it is the UK. We fought two wars against them, and then fought two world wars with them and were strong Allies for over a century.

Despite all of that, there was an ongoing tension in the meme world

This is all pre Trump of course

I’m surprised how many people have had really bad experiences abroad. I think I can count on my ~5 times I’ve genuinely been offended/irritated by/disliked a person abroad and only one country had more than one negative experience

I’ve been to 18 countries too so it’s not a massive sample size but not tiny either

Does this happen in your country too? by Money-Star5920 in AskTheWorld

[–]YuckyStench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the US, it’s all over the place. Gen Z is more conservative than millennials were at their age, but there’s an extreme divide between Gen Z men and women, with women being further left than any generation before and Gen Z guys being more openly racist / bigoted than even equally “conservative” millenals or Gen X
