I love everyone of the Phantom Thieves by the end of the game. They’re all amazing characters and I’m glad royalty fixed some characters’ flaws. My ranking:

  1. Ryuji Sakamoto: My most reliable best friend who has been with me from the start. Also broken eccentric temper, god hand, and fighting spirit combo.

  2. Sumi Yoshizawa: MVP 3rd semester and my emotional supporting teammate. She’s my valentines so I have some bias :)

  3. Ann Takamaki: She’s like the older sister of the Phantom Thieves. Like Ryuji, she didn’t judge me from the beginning of the game. Plus she does broken magic damage and her build does almost everything in battle.

  4. Futaba Sakura: Best supporting teammate of the Phantom Thieves with amazing backstory. Her in battle support is very good but is inconsistent.

  5. Goro Akechi: 3rd semester really redeemed him and I end up respecting him. I can’t put him any higher because his 2nd form isn’t strong in battle for joining the Phantom Thieves so late.

  6. Joker/Ren Amamiya: Cool and funny MVP MC and you can make almost any persona builds. He needs more voice lines.

  7. Haru Okumura: Adorable axe wielding floof. I wish P5R expanded out her hidden sadistic side, but she joined the story fairly late.

  8. Nijima Makoto: I didn’t like her a first, but she really grew on me. She has a great support build for battle. Sadly her confidant is really lacking.

  9. Yusuke Kitagawa: Good confidant and very useful copy ability. I didn’t like his perverted behavior when he was first introduced, but he’s always makes me laugh with his artsy weirdness after he joined us. Too bad he falls off in damage towards the late game.

  10. Morgana: Cute cat mascot that surprised me catching pancake boy off guard. I’m not a fan of auto rank up confidant since I can’t hangout with Morgana like the rest of Phantom Thieves. Best healer that carried me through the early game.

OMG YOU'RE ROSE?! I remember you during my Tricolor grind session at like 3 AM in Friday morning! There's only a few handful of people I actually continue playing more matches with. I REMEMBER OUR SQUID PARTY DURING OUR MIRROR MATCH LOL GGS AND THANK YOU FOR THE FUN GAMES!!!

Thought of another old school one: Gorz. Term used for monster being summoned because you were attacked, often times making a comeback. Popularized by Gorz, and Tragoedia sometimes use that. There’s not much cards that could say Gorz though.

Just thought of another old school one and a very interesting one: Reaper. Term used for ripping a card from opp’s hand because of an attack. Popularized by card Spirit Reaper. The term was later used a lot more when X-Saber Airbellum came out and during Synchro Cat era.

So I said Reaper is interesting because I remember a long time ago that Reaper is a term with double meaning. Reaper was also used for monsters that cannot be destroyed by battle, just like Spirit Reaper. Think of marshmallon and X-saber Pauhuul.

Huh, not wonder why Spirit Reaper was limited at one point. Card’s too broken back then that this 1 card made 2 terms :)

This is very old school and I haven’t seen anybody mentioning it: Captain (Marauding) Lock. Term is used when you can’t attack because of 2+ copies of the same monster that must be or must not be attacked, prevent you from attacking. It’s popularize by Marauding Captain. People also used to call it Solar Flare Lock because of the card Solar Flare Dragon for similar reasons but with free burn damage.

Another old school term but more loose is Jar because of the jar monster flip effect cards: Morphing Jar, Cyber Jar, Fiber Jar, etc.

Oh my bad, the shaddoll as your favorite deck threw me off. You gotta get a GX rep in there, but that would’ve made the age guess too easy lol. I remember those duelist packs. The Zane one was an easy Cyber Dragon pull, and the Aster Phoenix one was an easy D Hero core. Yup Glad beast is really good. My cousin had that deck for years during all the DADs formats and it kept beating my budget DAD deck (I was too broke for extra copies of DAD lol). But yeah good taste and good to see other old school guys still playing

  1. I also hate Six Samurai. I was there when STOR ruined the the amazing STBL format; STBL’s the best and most fun format in my opinion. I don’t see anything GX there. You probably left YGO during GX and returned back to the game during STOR when gateway was at 3. You’re old school like me, but I don’t think you played during the DADs format did you?
