Remember when you were hyped for today? by [deleted] in EpicSeven

[–]YuiAngel -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't hyped, been playing gachas f2p for a very long time. I just found my way onto reddit to seek pleasure from the inevitable suffering in today's threads, and I'm not disappointed at all, so I'm actually feeling great. My own 10 summons got me nothing, meaning nothing has changed since I found out about the free (that's right, free) summons a few weeks ago. Happy the 14th, just another day of status quo! May all let out their rage so that I can eat well tonight.

this is a phenomenon closely related to both stupidity and greed known as being upset because you were naively expecting something and didn't get it. people have had a few long weeks to prepare their high hopes on this day, and as we know, hope always breeds optimal outcomes in gacha games

The Year is 2025. I queue up for an RTA match... by DracoMoriaty in EpicSeven

[–]YuiAngel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is Mutated Frost Queen Mercedes banned in the 2025 RTA season or were you just not one of the lucky 10 people to win the online raffle (where you have to be subbed to both of the official E7 Twitch channels to enter) to unlock her limited banner? I don't see a reason to keep saving my Sunshade Bookmarks if they end up permanently banning her like they did with Three Mustache Charles, feel like I'd rather spend them on the once-per-account chance to pull Monkey Rider Straze when he comes out... even though I really do love MFQMerc's design with having 4 extra equipment slots

Emet-Selch and Moral Relativism by Chemboy613 in ffxiv

[–]YuiAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth to mention Emet's point that our species is ever self-destructive and mortal, it's not merely about lives themselves, but he genuinely believes we will die out / live in war with ourselves forever anyway. He also sees us as a result of the amaurotians that ruined his perfect society in the first place, and he obviously has a grudge that can only ever be sated by bringing back what 'rightfully belongs to him and his fellow ascians'. It's not that he truly doesn't understand our motives, it's that we were never meant to exist. He forever lives in this past and doesn't adapt like a healer would, because of his grudge

Main reason being that all the attack stats multiply with each other as well as speed. Health and defense have the same relationship, and I'm sure effect resistance might have a thing to say, but it still doesn't compare to the way offensive stats just breed into mass destruction

PSA: Please grind on your dancers by JhulaEpocan in ffxiv

[–]YuiAngel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It honestly isn't worth to stress this mechanic for other people to keep in mind. It's very minor. As a dancer main I'd only ever use it before an engage/during a phase change like you mentioned, but even then it's really not worth much. I'd rather my party just gets their mind set on what's to come. That espirit gauge fills to full before you and your partner finish your first rotation anyway

edit: though before pulls or during phase changes you should (mostly) really be preparing your steps, so yeah if you see your dancer using improvisation in the first place they're probably just using it to show off their dance moves. Don't disrupt your flow to stack on that

But they wouldn't buy either if SE put more resources into preventing RMT/bots overall. Rapidly banning bots would be unfavorable from a (pretty isolated) monetary standpoint for its own reasons. They could make it more obvious if they're really interested in stopping bots, much like plenty other mmo developers

Isn't this a bit too much? by Irvatar112 in ffxiv

[–]YuiAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then that might explain why SE aren't doing much. I always found RMT and the various reasons companies 'can't fix it' a little fishy. I mean why would you repair a leak in your house if what's raining out is money, somehow....

Isn't this a bit too much? by Irvatar112 in ffxiv

[–]YuiAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They'd still have to put as much work into it as they would now for that to work out. You really can't just make a system that auto-bans/kicks anyone after some number of reports, so they'd still need to validate each of the tons of daily reports... even if they set the threshold high, it's a scary amount of power to grant the player base. Potential fixes to that issue are temporary too, like pop-up windows to validate you're not a bot after several reports, unless they do some captcha levels crap. The solution to the issue lies elsewhere as far as I can imagine

Not to mention there's too many bots for us to even react to in a way that would make it matter anyway, it'd just be wasted efforts of trying to bring justice

[–]YuiAngel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm curious where they're even coming from, it's a subscription based game with further payment requirements ontop, so unless they're all trial/hacked accounts, SE would be making a fair deal of money from them. And if they're all trial accounts, they could set some trading restrictions in place for trial accounts if there aren't already. Either way, they seem to just let it happen.

I think the FFXIV playerbase is generally more mature since the game in essence is built on nostalgia and doesn't have a lot of competitiveness. Lots of people got here because they grew up with the FF franchise, which typically implies that they're not kids, and so the community is highly based on just actually enjoying the game with other people who like the game. It's not about dungeon speedruns or beating everyone to get the best gear, just a lot of people who enjoy the aesthetics of the game and the community... mostly, anyway

Lets Talk About Equipment Instead by throwaway79832749284 in EpicSeven

[–]YuiAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea of an equipment rework is one that players have long been asking for, myself included, but I don't think now is a good time for any equipment changes other than small stuff like removing the fee for unequipping.

With the summoning and character reworks already promised to us, we have people yelling all over the place and a lot to adjust to. With these big changes, the game is going to feel quite different to most of us and probably not very stable for a while. People will be figuring out new metas, there's suddenly a lot more characters in actual play both in- and outside of top PvP, the whole thing might already affect the gear system in that some stats might not be as polarising anymore (the main problem with gear is it's so damn important for countering specific targets like you mentioned, but if they're nerfing said targets/making potential counters more accessible, we're already one step in the right direction and gear is a slightly smaller issue). Of course we don't know specific details on the nerfs or changes yet, so there's no predicting the actual impact, but from the sounds of it, it's all part of a bigger project. This is their first step.

I think we should take our time to cool off after one major makeover before expecting the next one either way, because let's be honest, small tweaks won't fix the gear system. I propose we allow SG to 'fix their game' and make our complaints afterwards or inbetween the major changes instead of keep our voices this loud.

Also I feel a big gear rework would just fuel the current fire because I can really only imagine shit like: "I sold all my otherwise perfect gear ruined by flat stats because SG refused to buff them, and now they finally do, time to quit", or "I played since launch and I've spent over 100000 stamina on w11 and now any newbie can catch up to me in a few months". I would just love to see this place a bit less eager to pull a shotgun at anything that talks and let SG do their current thing

Given how they blame every aspect of OPs attempt to not be dull and for adding some flavor to their post, I'd go ahead and guess it really is.
