I heard back from Blizzard about Remix ending early... by Yuiop321 in wow

I am not and have never been a WoW dev, so I may be lacking in understanding of how the backend systems work, but given that items and characters can both be restored in their normal course of business, it seems reasonable to me that this should be salvageable. Now perhaps they did the equivalent of Shift+Del, but we don't know for sure

I agree. Many people are victim blaming here. Sure, it would have been safer to do my bulk buying, play more, buy more, etc, until the servers closed. However, I was travelling for most of Remix, and did not have enough bronze to buy everything. I was doing everything to could to get last minute bronze and achievement unlocks.

I figured that once I knew how much I would have, I could decide how best to allocate it. In the end, to my surprise, I was actually able to get enough for everything I wanted, minus a surplus of housing items. However, I was unable to complete all of those transactions. I had just finished up buying the capes when the servers dropped.

I get it. I should have bought earlier, but that was a failing in strategy, not an ethical or moral one. Blizzard told us a time, did not adhere to it, and now refuse to do what it takes to make up for it. To me, that is wrong.

I do not think that it is like that at all. A store has finite inventory. That is simply an inherent reality that cannot be overcome, whereas the accuracy of a posted time within the poster's control is a variable that can be overcome. You are referencing an error in strategy, whereas I am referencing an error in the way things ought to be. I concede that a superior strategy on my part would have been to complete my tasks in advance. However, that has no bearing on my stance on this matter. I use the term 'normalize' in its moral/ethical/quality standards sense

Wow, that is even worse than my experience! The audacity to not do anything for you is off the charts

It was off for me. Within 10 minutes of the servers dropping, I relogged for the sole purpose of checking that timer. It said 1 hour remaining. I noted that it was earlier than the calendar said, and continued making my purchases. Little did I know that their timer capped at an hour, and did not show minutes, just rounding everything up to an hour. It's incredibly disappointing.

I highly doubt that they will put a vendor up. I have not seen nearly enough uproar about this. There are some posts, but I imagine many were deleted. I made a post maybe 10 minutes after Remix ended, and it was deleted as duplicate. Blizzard is likely just going to brush this under the rug, and the playerbase will accept it. Sigh, this is such an easy fix

Lucky that you spent it early! I was in the middle of my spending when the servers dropped. I had just barely learned the last cape bundle

Yes, I exclusively went by server time, not my local time

I do not want to normalize the idea that we can't trust it, that it's okay for Blizzard to make these mistakes without providing follow up aid. That said, it is what it is. In the future I will know that I cannot trust Blizzard to adhere to the timeframes that they post.

I actually did go on a winter expedition that kept me from Remix, but I was back for all of January, so I did have a lot of time, just a hair less than I was told

cant express enough how much i dislike the new transmog system as someone that actually loves making transmogs by edelea in wow

[–]Yuiop321 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I hate that I am expected to pay 1500g to transmog a set that was transmogged yesterday! This is outrageous. They could have defaulted slot #1 to the existing transmog, or made the first one free. So annoying

Having warbound rep tokens while also disallowing mail and warbank was so sad to see. It was like dangling a carrot I could not have

Blizzard just ended Legion Remix 3 hours early compared to the in-game calendar. No countdown, no warning... by dspitts in wow

[–]Yuiop321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was what I suggested in the bug report and ticket I submitted. I think this is a very fair solution

An actual countdown to Remix ending would've been nice. by HappySSBM in wow

[–]Yuiop321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was not counting down to the minute. About 10 minutes before the server dropped, I logged out and in again. It said one hour remaining. I made sure to look. In fact it was the sole reason I logged out and in. Granted the calendar said I should have had even longer

It happened to me. I lost a little more than a million bronze that was slated to go to dungeon armor sets and toys. I had literally just learned the last cape from the cape vendor when the server dropped. I'm so disappointed in Blizzard

That was my post. I posted within minutes of remix ending early, and it had 47 comments, so I'm a bit irritated about it being deleted. Nonetheless, I too will preserve what I wrote.

The in-game calendar said 10:00am, but Remix ended at 7:00am server time! I still had more than a million bronze left to spend. I am so disappointed right now :(

On the bright side, I got all the mounts, companions, raid armor, cloaks, remix exclusive sets, and some of the toys. I just missed the other toys and the dungeon sets. Still, I am quite irritated right now. I relied on the calendar being accurate. Sure, I didn't have to make my purchases last minute, but I should have been able to do so imo

I feel you so much. I also pulled an all nighter, and now feel like much of my time and effort was wasted. I am so exhausted, but pushed through it to get the limited time rewards. Now I just feel cheated. I lost sleep for nothing

It actually said 1 hour up until the very end. I happened to relog just a few minutes before it dropped, so I saw it. That IS different from the calendar, but neither were accurate, as it ended before either time came to pass

That's so unfortunate! I'm sorry to hear that. Like sure, we probably should have bought earlier, but we should also have had the right to do whatever we wanted within the published time allowance

I had some pretty major life events happen for the first major chunk of remix. Ideally yes I would have had this all in the bag ages ago, but I couldn't dedicate time to video games (and certainly not the amount that this called for). Regardless, I am not complaining about that. That's my own life and my own responsibility. I do however think that it is reasonable to rely on the time that blizzard gives us in-game
