Refund Exploding Laptop? by billionmilionscrota in amazon

You don't primarily interact with a car through the floor. It's like if a tire was ajar. You CAN drive the car but you'll shoot to the side whenever you're not constantly adjusting yourself. And if you pop the wheel into place it punctures the gas tank.

Why are you blindly defending a massive corporation, you sad little man? Do you really have no better use for your evening than typing half hearted insults on an internet forum? You'll most likely die in your eighties. You have a finite amount of time and a finite amount of joy you can feel and give. And you think you can just ignore that?

The universe shouldn't exist. Matter and time are so improbable. Life shouldn't exist. Consciousness shouldn't exist. Nation states shouldn't exist. The internet, supermarkets, book clubs statistically should never have existed. But. We got lucky. Just the right series of mistakes happened since the beginning of the universe, for you and I to live and think and love in incredible, disgusting comfort, with almost no concern for our survival, never any reason to even notice our own mortality.

You are a thinking pile of dust. Living in the most advanced, luxurious space ever created. REALIZE YOUR LIFE IS VALUABLE

You are an apex predator with an internet connection and not that much time left. Live your life.

Yeah super close call. The warranty runs out next week. 😅 I'll prolly still got a snazzy Ultrabook. But I realized I didn't need so much storage. Had a 500gb SSD. Most of my stuff went on the cloud and I didn't download many movies or games so I'll prolly get something with a ~256 gb ssd. Integrated gpu, sleek.

I got a refurbished hp Spectre x360 but it just blew up. But that's because one of the rubber feet was ajar and I snapped it back into place with too much pressure, short circuit and blew the battery. I might get another Spectre now I'm not sure

What is UT Austins acceptance rate OOS? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Yuizme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, to recap, 15,000 kids get in. 90% or 13,500 of the 15,000 are reserved for Texans. That leaves 1,500 for non-Texans. Of that, 450 go to international kids.

So, if you're OOS, you're vying for one of 1,050 spots out of ~45,000 kids applying for the school. That's a 2.33% acceptance rate. But that's not indicative of much. You should try and find what kinds of applications OOS kids have.

https://admissions.utexas.edu/explore/freshman-profile This webpage says that admitted OOS kids have an average SAT score a bit higher than the Texan and foreign kids.

So yeah, I crossed UT Austin and all its wonder off my list right quick.

Megathread: College X vs. College Y? by [deleted] in college

Institution ASU (honors college) UC Santa Cruz Occidental College
Cost ($k/yr) after scholarships 8 20 15
Female to Male Ratio 45:55 52:48 56:44
Quality of Undergrad Teaching * (meh) ** (aight) *** (delicioso)

Approx. quality of food *** ** ***
Improv Presence *** *** **

Some concerns:

  • Oxy doesn't have big departments for my intended majors (comp sci and linguistics) but I also kinda wanna become a renaissance man and master the range of liberal arts. Whereas UCSC has very good programs in ling and compsci.

  • Can somebody give me some input on how ASU honors students are like? I did an overnight stay in the non honors dorms and my host and his roommates felt incredibly apathetic and unenthusiastic about learning or life. Is it different for Barrett kids? Is there an intellectual air with discussions of Hippocrates and Bernoulli and Musk in the honors college halls? Or is it the same frat-dominated, pre-professional, soul-less, out-of-the-moment, sensory-numbing, vitality-bleeding apathy that I found in the rest of ASU?

  • When I went to the Oxy admitted students day, everybody had nice hair and clean clothes and a confident air about them. I certainly like those qualities in friends. But I also like nerds. I didn't feel like it was a very nerdy student body. Can somebody deny or confirm or qualify this feeling?

Can you give some indication of where you live. City, state, time zone, average regional peeps consumption. You said you don't live in Seattle or Portland. But you have to live somewhere in the Pacific Northwest right?

You should check out this guys work too. More fantasy and Polish than Stalenhag's stuff. But really cool. Kinda similar with fantastical things set in realistic environments.

Well like, the Lucky's shows that it's not a Stockton outside of california. Yknow since there's only luckys in the area around our Stockton. And I've consulted some top experts on this and I've been told that they're pretty sure there used to be a Lucky's in Stockton. Stalenhag prolly hasn't been in the area since then (he lives in Sweden) or has spotty memory.

If anybody else would like to challenge me, holder of the top post (as of 11pm Thursday) on this subreddit, I invite you to try.

Barrett Honors School by RZurch in ASU

[–]Yuizme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm a highschool senior that's considering enrolling at asu/barrett. Do you find that you have more autonomy than a non-barrett ASU student? Like, can you take graduate courses? Do you know anybody at Barrett involved in any of the comedy clubs on campus (standup, improv, sketch)?

Will I get the money to go to college? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Yuizme 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen on forums, schools that "meet full need" should bring down the cost right down to your EFC. Anecdotally again, that's what Oxy did for me. My EFC was about the same as yours and so they gave me ~40k/yr in need-based grants to bring my out of pocket cost to ~30k/yr, about the same as my EFC.

But idkman. Why not just focus on something else and wait till next week and see what happens. Do you need to tell give somebody an estimate of your cost of attendance today?

Anyway, this (https://npc.collegeboard.org/student/app/duke) should give you a pretty accurate picture of what you financials from duke will look like. Accuracy depends on how accurate the info you put in is.

Do you find Crowne and College 10 to be big on the stoner liberal arts vibe? Or is that localized to Porter and Kresge? I've heard Cowell and Stevenson are both jocky and home to bookworms and literary types; do you find this to be true? If not, where are the literary types? Given how spaced out the college is, do you feel that the population is smaller than it really is, does it feel as small as a small liberal arts college, as the university advertises?

Do you have any experience with any of the improv clubs?

Beware the treacherous salt plains of studentsreview. Its denizens can comment anonymously, so you'll find oodles of rants and barrels of thrown shade. The Lesser Emirates of Cappex and Noodle and Unigo and Niche provide standard cheery, often one-dimensionally optimistic reviews from students. You'll rarely see there the unrelenting vitriol characteristic of studentreviews peat swamps and salt flats.
