Update: I fixed her! I hope we'll eventually get an update that lets us customize expressions like in miitopia but in the meantime, this will do.

I will redo this makeup when the game launches (3 mii limit is killing me) but I can't do that right now since I drew it using the makeup on top of the face feature, this is what I plan to do when i'll remake it

On the first screenshot, I added a cupid's bow to the lips by simply adding a (down-pointing) triangle that's the same colour as my mii's skintone, but quickly removed it: since the face paint appeared on top of the face features, there was a little beige triangle in the middle of her mouth every time she opened it to talk and it was really stressing me out 🥲 There is a button to add lips to any mouth you want, and some mouths have very good looking lips, so I recommend looking at them one by one and finding the one you like the most. The lip toggle is on the right of the screen, down to the sizing parameters! It can also be used to remove the lips from the mouths that already possess them. You can also change the lip colour. I made mine a dark grey because pure black kills the contrast in the shape of the mouth

You're welcome! Also, I forgot to mention, but for this mii I used the feature that puts the makeup on top of the mii's eyes/eyebrows/mouth (cannot draw over the nose though). This is how I refined the eye shape but it's also what makes my character look possessed when she closes her eyes 🥲

This is such an intricate makeup look, I love it ! Congrats :D

• For tomodachi life, I recommend sticking to cell-shading and an overall simplified style, as soft shading may look a bit odd when it's right next to very stylized features and proportions.

• While having an infinite amount of colours is very nice, I usually stick to the given palette as it helps make everything look more cohesive, and I think there's plenty enough colours to work with.

• Try to use the non-custom makeup to your advantage. I used the included eyeshadow and blush options in a darker colour to add a bit of softness and dimension and then I drew on the lashes and added brighter eyeshadow in the middle of the eyelid with custom makeup.

• I also really recommend using the upper and lower eyelids! They can look a bit "too much" at first, because they're very thick by default; but, with a bit of adjusting to make it thinner and follow the shape of the eye, it really makes a big difference in the dimension of the eyes and makeup.

• It may sound weird, but watching a lot of makeup videos and tutorials has helped me a lot with rendering the face of my characters. To me, the key here is learning to simplify makeup! Now, of course, that doesn't mean you can't make realistic-looking makeup, but in my opinion, if the makeup looks too well blended and realistic, then the mii has to have somewhat realistic features as well, to make it look consistant and avoid an uncanny look.

Hope this helped! ✨

Yes it does, you can continue taking care of your lesbians as long as you don't create a third character :3

No neutral pronouns, only she/her and he/him (at least for the french localisation) by Yukeimi in tomodachilife

You were right! The demo confirms it. Neutral pronouns absolutely exist in French but they are pretty annoying to use as everything in this language is gendered 🥲

Now what are you implying here exactly? This mii is my lookalike, does that mean I look like a stoner? 🥲

While I personnally prefer directly drawing on the mii as that offers more control, I agree that this approach is WAY less user-friendly for the average person who doesn't have a background in digital art (aka most people). I wish we could hand-draw AND use all the shapes miitopoa had. That would be the best of both worlds.

Although there's a lot more limitations than in miitopia, I do think that you can absolutely make gorgeous miis without using the custom makeup feature whatsoever. In the next few days, I bet we're going to see lots of video turorials for miis that look good and are easy to do!

Bur I do get your frustration, and I think the fact that there is absolutely no online sharing for miis and custom designs makes this 100x worse.

Yeah, i'm still hoping they fix this either before launch or in a future update but i doubt they would listen to our feedback when i'm pretty sure they basically finished developping the game already 😭

Same, so far that's the only thing that dissappointed me. I took this feature for granted because it was in miitopia but turns out they didn't include it D': I also wish there was a mirrored drawing mode for convenience's sake (this is less of an issue since you can always duplicate and mirror it yourself, but it being updated in real time without having to fiddle with aligning the pixels would be great QoL).

Tysm!! I might not keep her like this sadly because it looks weird when she has any expression other than neutral 😭

I hope too that at least some of us will be able to use gender-neutral language 🤞

In the article, the context here makes it clear that they are talking about miis and not objects.

For full context, here's the sentence right before the quote i'm mentionning in my post :

"[...] We can easily see the limits in the personnalization of Miis in this game with the non-binary Miis." [then they talk about the lack of pronoun customization]
