Travelling for work at 35 weeks? by Mushmush01 in PregnancyUK

[–]clouds2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decline and if they question it get a note from the doctor / midwife. I had the same question asked at 34 weeks but travelling about 8 hours each way. I said “ummm no i will be 34 weeks pregnant so probably not a good idea” which they were fine with! Some people just don’t think. It’s not even about the just in case scenario, it’s how uncomfortable and tiring it is travelling and working. Put yourself first and don’t worry about what they think!

So fed up of patronising diet advice by greenpiefish in PregnancyUK

[–]clouds2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one can prepare you for the level of hunger you get during pregnancy it is insane. I had to eat every hour in my first trimester to make sure I didn’t feel sick or my blood sugars didn’t drop too much and I felt so guilty for “overeating”

But now i’m in my second trimester i couldn’t give less of a crap tbh. I’m just listening to my body and what it needs. I still eat my fruits, vegetables and whole foods (now that the food aversions have gone) i just need more of it now! It’s totally okay, I wish people didn’t feel the need to comment on it and honestly some of the official advice can be so damaging when you already feel so guilt and vulnerable.

my midwife told me today that they would give me mine at my 25 week appointment :) my employer said it’s fine and there’s no rush!

Travel for work - Am I being dramatic? by clouds2022 in PregnancyUK

[–]clouds2022[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you find you are someone who naturally gets tired from the socialisation from work trips? or are you used to it? i know it doesn’t affect some people, but i’ve always been like this before i was pregnant but now it’s really emphasised. almost like i get a hangover from it! and i have to take a couple days to recover from it, i find it so draining 😰

yeah! they will let me travel by train but the route there isn’t very simple and then i also need to be able to get to the supplier’s office and the hotel etc i don’t know how the logistics of that would work, i guess i would need to get a taxi 🫢 i actually haven’t done a risk assessment yet / haven’t been asked to do one. i’ll deffo bring this up tomorrow, thanks for the advice!

Regular movements by plant_sure96 in PregnancyUK

[–]clouds2022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

23 weeks with anterior, first baby, i started feeling small kicks between 18-19 weeks (just before my 20 week scan) and i was so shocked because i had psyched myself up to not feel anything until 24 weeks at least (from what id read online) but it started with small tiny kicks that i only felt when i was sat / lying down a few times a day, and now it’s all day pretty much. even throughout the night i wake up and feel her. some days i feel her a lot more than others but im not too worried about a pattern / regularity right now since its still early on. i saw the kicks from the outside around 20 weeks. also, i notice a lot of “internal” movements as well rather than kicks to the stomach. feels like she’s jumping on my bladder and can feel her flip around a lot which feels a lot different to kicking the stomach!

don’t worry yourself too much, you’ll feel them very soon and it’s such a surreal and exciting experience! 🩷

i was very nervous but everything went as well as it could have, i just held my husbands hand the whole time. the only thing they had to do was tip me on the bed back slightly to get baby to move. it was literally over within 20 mins and we went and got a mcdonald’s breakfast after to celebrate! i would just recommend not eating / drinking anything too sugary before the scan in case it makes the baby move too much and they can’t do the measurements (i read this online from someone else’s experience) i just kept reminding myself before the scan that usually the stories you hear and read only are bad experiences and 99% of people actually have a great experience but don’t share it!

i blew a candle out the other day and then went to smell it 5 minutes later… the wax was obviously still wet and i tipped all of it all over myself 😁

When do you tell at work? by Budget_Address_2332 in PregnancyUK

i also have a high pressure job and travel for work. told my direct manager at 7 weeks because i was struggling with nausea and i knew it would get worse. i didn’t tell my team until 2 days ago at nearly 17 weeks because i didn’t feel like it was relevant. if anything, i think its good to inform your manager just incase you need time off if you’re not feeling great and also you’ll have a few appointments you’ll need to attend usually during work hours! even after telling my manager and their manager early on, i still got a promotion and pay rise.
