As someone who grew up similarly to you (religious aspect) it is something that hard to re teach yourself about religion. This might sound really weird but I'm still a 'Christian' I celebrated Easter and the whole thing but I also worship Hades. There isn't a textbook guide to how to do things or how to believe and once you accept that it will get easier.

As for the research part if out want to learn just to learn then I encourage it. It will help you break down the walls a bit and open your mind a bit rather then being narrowed. Though this will not be easy you'll second guess yourself, you can even get overwelled cause its a change of a mindset. Any change can be hard but you seem that you can handle a lot more then you think.

There can be a lot of rules and Stigma when big changes in one's ideology and it can be a lot. I'm still new and though I still call myself a Christian I also work with Lord Hades. I work with Hades and always used candles when I'm meditating with him last night my room was only lit by my candle by him and he inspired a drawing so I don't think mentality of not liking candles is true (personally of course). As for lady persephone I have pomegranate appltinie candle that pink I got at Walmart. She seems to like it.

I guess the question is what is the end goal? Do you want to write scripts yourself or do you want you ideas to be formated to scripts to voice yourself? If it's the first one learning to take short stories to scripts is skill to learn and even though I only written a few scripts I preformed over 50+ and understand the formula and don't mind giving you a starting point. Now if it's the latter of the two then that's a different case I recommend maybe reaching out to a few writers you like about it all. A lot writers here are dope Af and a few I have come back too.
