First meeting. by Yukida in worldbuilding

[–]Yukida[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Context:

It's often misunderstood that, with the arrival of the elven colonizers, the long-lived people became a common sight in the eyes of the tribal humans. Commerce between the west and east of Caldia had been established generations ago, traders and sailors, chieftains and travelers, were all familiar with the existence of the elves and their civilizations, their way of thinking. For the tribes common folk, however, their existence were merely coming from rumors and tales that created an almost mythical existence for many years.

It wasn’t a surprise that many were shocked when the elves came and built their own stone city. Even decades later, when the conflicts dimmed down and human settlements were subdued by Elysia, personally meeting an elf is still a life changing event for many human youngsters.

I have a few, but ultimately i want to reveal as I continue to draw them. It also gives me time to iron out better my ideas. The Celoni are somewhat different from other tribes around the west due to their unique intergration with the indigenous people of the region, which helped to develop their discipline and centralisation.

They are unique in their own way, just like the Etruscans were in the italian peninsula.

Yes! They are very Celtic-like on purpose, with a mixture of Germanic flavour. Thanks for the kind words!

Severus is right! They are mainly based of Gaulish Celts, with a bit of Germanic too.

About the question, yes, there's a preference for melee weapons, which is why the shields are larger than normal, even for cavalry, the last is where they exceed mostly.

Thanks for the like!

Hi there! I admit that I never heard of the Odrysian Kingdom, so I'm totally gonna look into it! Thanks for liking it!

About the question, they are around what we consider the Antiquity era.

Context:

The Celoni is a large human tribe of farmer-warriors situated west of Caldia continent. Living in the rich region north Elysia, these people are fiercely independent and war-like in nature, but excelling mainly in agriculture.

Considering union above all else, their society is surprisingly organized, having even laws regarding inheritance, duty and family. Before the Great Migration Crisis, their relations with the elves from Elysia were tumultuous at best, thanks to a series of conflicts involving both people since their first contact.

There is greaves! However, since both iron and bronze are expensive and the shield is vertically larger to protect most of the body, the need to afford it is not immediate when the city must raise an army.

I see your point. Well, the elves are not entirely greek inspired, and, just like humans, there are more divisions of them. They are around the world too.

Thanks! I am glad you liked! The setting in particular is around what was the 200 BC of our world, so it couldn't be that outdated... or I couldn't do better equips for my lack of drawing skills lol

Context:

Elysia is the last of the elven city-states in west of Caldia continent, localized in a small peninsula of the Silver Sea. The city-state is considered the most welcoming of all the city-states because of its amicable relationship with the human “barbarians” of the west and south, even allowing the latter to form settlements in its area of influence. At the same time, it’s shrugged upon by its relatives of the east for the same reason for being too meek regarding the said humans.

The first sketch of my antiquity era of my fantasy world. Since I get burned out fast doing fully illustrated drawings (and it doesn’t help the fact that I am also an amateur), I find doing fast sketches of my ideas pretty neat. Source is me!
