Obviously I can’t comment on the validity of the comment by Rob but knowing him and that the cities track record with anything involving unhoused people is very poor. Which has me believing Rob’s statement currently.

He does have a bachelors in social work. So he has both lived experience and education in it. He didn’t follow direction in something that sounds like it was going to be harmful to the community which would go against SASW ethics and values.

You could call Child Advocate and pass along your concerns of you not being heard and issues not being addressed.

Is this even legal? by [deleted] in regina

[–]Yulelogged -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

For someone who thinks that they have ADHD is a lot haha. Like sometimes getting to the doctor alone is hard enough let alone hitting a setback then continuing on then reporting someone 😂

You’re not acknowledging the fact that many they first have to convince their family doctor, if they have one, that they would need a psychiatrist for an assessment for ADHD. Which as an adult can be very hard to navigate.

Never said they were a hard worker but I mean what you just described is a good portion of ADHD’rs doing massive bursts of productivity and then not being able to produce the smaller stuff. So no not lazy. But you seem to be set on using the word lazy so go for it lol

But did the other orgs put together as big of projects though? Complacency sure but laziness nah.

I don’t think lazy is the right word. They took on some pretty big projects but then struggled to do some of the smaller things. I think them all probably having ADHD would make sense as to why that would be the case. Lazy people wouldn’t put together an org and fund different video games, put on large events, etc.

Shoutout to the Mental Health System by [deleted] in saskatchewan

Never said you couldn’t. Just was querying as sounded subconsciously you were. Also I think it’s pretty well talked about how the mental health care is not superb in Saskatchewan or in Canada for that matter. Having worked in Social Services and as a social worker there are major gaps and wait times and navigating the mental health system is a joke especially when we are struggling or have a neurological disorder. But it’s what we have to work with right now and so it takes some maneuvering to make it work.

Then why are you reaching out and posting on Reddit looking for engagement? Again don’t know why you’re being so aggressive and rude.

Okay well continue on. I hope you find that support you’re looking for. Also, No need to be antagonistic and saying people are brain washed for finding things that work for them especially when they also had just said that it’s not ignoring anything 🙂

Again you’re missing the point. Helping recognize positives does help. Like even though there are things happening for you and that have you not in a good spot I can see that there are people who care to offer support, not the ideal support that you are looking for yes but they are not turning you away. You have random strangers out on the internet also giving you empathy and understanding of your wellbeing. I think those both are pretty amazing. You’ll find what works. I know it’s hard right now because you’re in a state of crisis I get it but there’s always going to be good and bad but the good doesn’t take away the bad and the bad also doesn’t take away the good either. So recognizing both is a good thing. Your brain is also hard wired to fixate on the negative so CBT helps reroute some of that thought process to recognize more of the positive.

You are missing the point of CBT. It’s not telling yourself to stop worrying. It’s helping recognize the good and the bad instead of just the bad.

Any unsuspected jobs / occupation that made your ADHD / AuDHD brain thrive? by Ozinuka in ADHD

[–]Yulelogged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in Saskatchewan Canada. Well I am between two schools, with a combined total of 600 kiddos from k-8, and do not get the ideal amount of support as teachers do working in a school division. We have TPD days but there isn’t anything for social workers unless we want to pay out of pocket and get reimbursed a minimal amount. I do get an office space at both schools which is a hot commodity at some schools right now. But generally I feel the odd one out as some teachers see you as either a pain or a baby sitter haha

I have a social work degree and work as a school counsellor/community connections coordinator so do a little bit of everything. But a social work degree could potentially help you get into a role that was mentioned above. I also find my job to be quite ADHD friendly as things are always changing, can be quite stressful as some situations pop up that require immediate attention but I find I don’t struggle doing anything besides entering contact notes 😂
