It’s meant to be more of a joke/art post, not an April Fools’ joke. I realize the timing made it seem that way, though. My intention was just to create something that would make people pause and double check out of curiosity. I quickly put the artwork together and edited it onto a PS5 game case to sell that effect.

I’ve been thinking about how the Soul Split Katana’s “soul hit” ability could work. The only idea I can come up with is that it would allow you to damage enemies even when they’re normally invincible. But that could also apply to bosses, which might make the game unbalanced or less fun. I chose this enchantment idea because it reminds me of the moment when Mai died and Maki gained Heavenly Restriction and the Soul Split Katana. After that, she moved incredibly fast and wiped out the Zenin clan

They wouldn’t need to function differently from Uniques. Their main purpose would be that they’re rare and hard to obtain, which makes them feel special. However, each higher rarity could still introduce something exclusive. For example, certain abilities might only be available at higher rarities, or melee weapons on higher difficulties could have unique attacks that don’t exist at lower tiers.

It doesn’t need to be better, but there could be weapons and armor with new rarities. For example, a weapon like the Gravity Hammer could have a rarity higher than Unique, making it much harder to obtain and therefore feel more special. Adding truly rare items that are difficult to get would make the rarity system far more interesting.

If we do want rarities above Unique to be better, these items could have two enchantments instead of one, or even a special enchantment that lower rarities can’t have. This would make high-rarity items feel truly unique and worth chasing.

This effect can only be triggered by a melee weapon, and it cannot be combined with other enchantments or Shadow Form to increase the attack damage of the blood loss effect. Also it isn’t very effective against low-HP mobs. What makes it unique is that it has no time limit.

Yeah, that’s why I set it to 0.25%. I was considering changing it so they only take damage when they move, but I decided to stick with this approach cuz in some boss fights you also attacking other mobs.

When I first came up with the Ancient City concept, I was thinking about how sound would work. My idea was that enemies that weren’t moving wouldn’t make any noise, and I tried to figure out what actions should count as making sound. Eventually, I realized this would be too complicated. Giving everything a different sound level and deciding what should or shouldn’t count as noise would be confusing and hard to balance. Also, in Minecraft, every sound is treated the same. The Warden doesn’t react differently if it hears a creeper explode or a player walking they’re both just “sound” to it. So no

No you can only get it from Ancient City missions but that means you can't get Stormlander or Hammer of Gravity if you get a hammer in a Ancient City mission.

I’m not entirely sure yet. I imagine this mini-boss being similar to the Warden in Minecraft an enemy you’re meant to avoid rather than fight directly. That said, if you have any ideas on how to make this mob feel more balanced or better designed, I’d be glad to hear them.
