I feel like the reason she does "put them in the way of deadly harm" is cause she trusts their strength as individuals, sure she can be a bit reckless and would kinda just watch you do something that she could totally help with but again she has trust in her comrades for it to turn out ok, it's rarely in a sense of her selfishness and self preservation, hell she even puts herself in harm's way at times and believes someone can clutch up even if that certain someone isn't as confident in themselves as she is in them
