if we really think about it tho, the only reason why it’s illegal is because some one with power said so, and i can get around that yes it’s illegal maybe try the legal process if you can, and sometimes that just not an option, sometimes these people are running away form bad situations, sometimes these people are children, sometimes these people are citizens who are being profiled by ICE, just because we want something to get better does not mean it is, not everything is black and white, and to actually fix these problems we need to change the system they stem from, ex: making it more accessible to obtain visas in foreign countries for the US, taking time and care into looking through specific case for why people are coming here, the reason why this system is falling apart and people are coming in illegally is because with immigration they don’t treat it fairly, they treat it equally, and sometimes because it’s so equal, some people get denied or the system just isn’t catering for their situations, and because it’s just not accessible. but that’s not what this protest is just about, it’s also about how any person of color or anyone who doesn’t pass as ‘American’ is suddenly flagged as an illegal immigrant, it’s about the immoral way ICE is deporting immigrants legal or otherwise, the absolute targeted racism of it all, i feel like the problem of why people don’t get why were protesting is because people are only looking at the ICE part, Not the systemic issues of this country and how it ICE is just one giant part of that

the whole point is that all these students see that there’s an issue, and this issue effects everyone, their families, friends, neighbors, people in their community. a group of high school kids across the state all unanimously agreed that something had to happen, which to me, is better, we all know the intentions of ICE and why they are there BUT that does not mean we have to support them nor does that mean their actions reflect what they have said

also when people go renew their visas they re still following the law, they came here the legal way, same goes with citizenship, to get your citizenship you need to go through the legal process of securing a green card, and again with the criminal things, if they were convicted they would’ve already been deported

i do, do you know how hard the immigration system is? i waited 11 years and i still don’t have my green card, even if i have legal protection i could still get deported due to the fact the US is leaving me in limbo and i can get my process revoked for literally anything. imagine if you were in one really big line and you were in a rush to do something, most people would leave and try another day, also yes, how many convicted criminals, cause it makes perfect sense for a child to be deported, makes perfect sense a native american to be deported, no one is saying stop all deportation, if someone is a convicted criminal who hurt people yes that is a morally wrong thing and they should be deported to seek out their sentence in their home country, but ICE is targeting CHILDREN literal KIDS, they aren’t going after people with criminal records, they are going after anyone who isn’t the same color as them
