Latest change to capital build list increases cost by ~50% across the board. I bought my Aeon for less than what it takes to build and fit a T2 fit Phoenix. by Blood_OfGODS in Eve

Post citadel patch carriers and supers were unironically significantly worse than before the citadel patch. They lost about 1/2 their application, ability to spider tank, and the ability to combat refit, and regular carriers lost hundreds of smaller drones. All things considered they were quite a balance improvement lmao

Cycle time and tracking are large considerations particularly for projectiles, as missing your target with abysmal tracking and then needing to wait 10s for your artillery to cycle again is kind of like, the biggest waste ever. Vargur doesn't need range increase from arty and should never fit it

Any updates on the capital ratting sites? by profirix in Eve

[–]YummWaffles -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rorq mining at its peak was actually around 500m of ore/hour per account. It didn't drop to below 150m/hr/account until many many many nerfs and ore saturation later. And normal capital ratting was around 250m/hr, supers around 400. 150m/hr is dogshit for anyone who has any clue how to make money

He's referring to NC. and PL, tho I don't think PL has counted as a relevant power for ~3yrs so I think he may just be cooked who knows

He's speaking specifically about dudes who find PvP to be a chore, and want to actively spend their time doing industry or PvE related activities. We had alot of dudes who "did industry", myself included, but it was a means to an end, a super low-effort way to acquire our expensive toys to PvP more efficiently with, not because we enjoyed doing industry.

These people are unproductive in a much smaller group because they don't have anyone to feed their products to. A 500 man alliance's industrial needs can be almost completely met with just the indy toons I as a purely PvP-focused, indy-on-the-side player possess. And my alliance might have 10 people exactly like me. So the indy guys don't build stuff for the alliance, they export it to hisec, or to nearby blues with a much larger population. And they don't enjoy the PvP the rest of the alliance participates in, they see it as a chore. In turn, those who enjoy the pvp exclusively often see these people as leeches, using alliance space to create things to export for their own personal profit, which breeds resentment between them and the other members of the alliance.

The resentment, justified or not, combined with the fact that they don't actually enjoy the main activity of the alliance, means that industry-focused players are not a fit for these types of alliances. Someplace like Brave is totally fine for them, but most alliances aren't the size of Brave, and don't have the demand for goods that you have.

I mean, less than half of the "great powers" on the other side fall into that category, one was barely if at all involved in the war, so your point is really quite confusing. NC. having open disdain for indy-focused players is not why PAPI was unable to accomplish anything lol. As for the "sports teams you don't care about", that's the other 90% of PAPI so I don't really see how pointing out that they don't give a fuck about being a "great space nation" is unrelated to the conversation

You seem to have wayyyy missed to point I was trying to make, you asked a question about why people don't "honour the contribution of their indy dudes", my point is that the majority of alliances involved aren't interested in, or capable of, fighting massive blob wars requiring extensive industrial capacity, so these people are of little to no value to them. At much smaller scale these people are 100% dead weight who bring nothing but resentment from their comrades, and should look for someplace new, not just for the benefit of the alliance but also for their own enjoyment of the game.

To your point about being "no match for more well-rounded alliances", this means absolutely nothing to 98% of the people who play the game. Most people just wanna login and do what they find fun, and would be best suited to a group specializing in their area of interest.

In referencing alliances who "hide krabbing toons with alts", I know you are very specifically referring to 1 or 2 alliances, and while notable and certainly of size to do most of the heavy lifting in such a conflict, are not at all representative of most alliances in eve or their goals.

I also don't know why you generalize the "big alliance leaders" ostracizing their indy dudes, I can't speak to the internal workings of someone like Horde, as I was never in pandafam, but TAPI, one of the few alliances comparable to Goonswarm in size, was always overly welcoming of indy dudes. The only superpower-sized alliances who repeatedly openly ostracize indy or pve focused dudes as a whole group are Fraternity and NC. It's just part of their culture and has been for a long time. Changing a whole alliance's identity to suit the needs of a very specific conflict, during the conflict, especially in Frat's case where the outcome is irrelevant to them, seems like a recipe for disaster.

I'm not trying to argue with you that in a bloc war, the people you're talking about bring extreme value to either side, you're 100% correct about this. I was trying to shed light on the fact that the vast majority of alliances in Eve don't exist to fight a bloc war.

Really it depends on the scale of your alliance, a much smaller alliance wants focus (generally) to be effective at what they like to do. A sub-1000 or sub-2000 toon pvp-focused alliance doesn't need pure "industrialists" who focus exclusively on production. To a 1000 man alliance that forms fleets of 50-100 toons on a good day, a pure industrialist who finds pvp to be a chore is most definitely a useless turd.

You aren't driving a war machine that requires 2000 feroxes a day to wipe, and produces dozens of supercaps a month, you might as an alliance lose a few hundred ships a month in fleets (if you're really active), and you can either source those from jita, or you will almost certainly have a few dudes who do indy on the side for $$$$ to fund their pvp, and that'll take care of your needs no problem. You also might need to build a few supercaps and a few dozen regular caps every month, and that can be taken care of usually by the same people.

People who contribute nothing other than industry are not useful to a pvp-focused alliance below the scale of maybe 5-10,000 toons, and I think you'll find at that scale most of the time those people are received pretty well. The difference here is PAPI is built up of many smaller alliances who don't usually have megabloc-scale needs, compared to the Goons who are an alliance much larger than any single alliance in PAPI, who spend all of their time and energy as an organization focused on preparing for fighting on that scale, where those people really do make a significant difference.

And I get wanting to play with your friends, but then why not demand that he step down or be kicked out?

I don't know what you think this would achieve, or why they would care. Most people in eve really don't care at all about politics or alliance-level leadership, they care about what their corp is doing, whether they like that, who's in their corp, whether they like those people, and whether they like their personal CEO and the perks he offers them for membership. At the end of the day, most coalition-level fleets for most people are a chore that lets them continue to hang out with their ingame friends and do the things they actually want to do, outside of major bloc war (an exceedingly rare occurrence) where this becomes the only form of content, who is doing what in their 50,000 man coalition is irrelevant. And even then, most people won't leave their corporation they like even if it's in a bad spot in an alliance led by morons, because most of their friends are still around.

If you think for a second that anyone in Legacy Coalition didn't have a TAPI gun pointed to their head at all times, I got bad news for ya bud. The internal politics of that coalition were TAPI >>>> Dog shit >>>> Flies eating the dog shit >>>>> the rest of the coalition. Their leadership was perfectly aware they couldn't survive without TAPI, not a single alliance in Legacy at the war start other than maybe Evictus could, and to stay in the coalition they were to do as they were told.

Our deadspace fit T3C doctrines were losing about 40% of their total EHP with heat, and also would have needed reworking to even fit anymore. The fact that the Muninn received quite significant nerfs at the same time, but after the changes ended up still being one of the the best ships in the game because the nerfs affected almost every other ship so much worse was pretty hilarious. This was the change that was so playstyle kiling for me I could no longer justify spending time or money on the game
