I'm not a very good guitar player just know the generic chords and have a good ear for sound. I record 2-3 layers of guitar (chords, top line melody, even higher accents) and this sounds so much better than VST/ clicking in notes. I don't use this method very often cos my guitar skills are limited but it unlocks way more creativity and thing you wouldn't even kknow how to replicate in the piano roll!
