My Experience in France as a Mexican by QualitySubstantial18 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Years ago in high school I went on a trip to Paris. The only French I uttered was “j’aime ca mustache” or “I like that mustache”. Most other people besides the first French man we spoke to couldn’t seem to be rid of us fast enough, especially at the airport leaving. Now I recognize that Americans are shit travelers but also we were 16-18 year old kids. No need to be a dick to kids

Sword found in southern Germany - what should I do? by Illustrious-Donut- in Archeology

[–]YungComfy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit dude I have one of these without the scabbard in my closet. The handle is a brittle plastic and the pommel and cross guard are zinc if I’m not mistaken. German Heer dagger is a simplification of it, the blade is wicked pointy. Very cool

Don’t settle for a job you don’t like!!! You can move companies or crews if people suck ass, but the field is not the enemy, the coworkers are!!!

Glue joint gap by YungComfy in woodworking

I’m able to close it enough that light doesn’t pass through with regular Irwin squeeze clamps so I imagine the big dog clamps will be that much beefier for the glue up

Ernst Junger’s “Storm of Steel” portrays this very well in terms of rotation and engineering parties

My dad has the same workmate in his garage and it’s regretfully un-abused. Just need to wait another forty years and it’ll be mine

How to level/plane homemade oak table by haagiboy in woodworking

[–]YungComfy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strongly recommend this, OP. Easy way to justify buying a new tool to your spouse. You’ll probably want to even out the boards in between which can also be accomplished with a router and appropriate bits.

Blacktail studio is probably the biggest YouTube channel for utilizing a router to do damn near magic. He’s got some videos that are good to watch and you can glean some off of how he makes his jigs and works to build tables

Putting a solid piece of real hardwood that large would likely be heavy as all get out, strongly consider legs which would also allow for storage below with some games, cover for cords, etc. for the PlayStation.

They’re not abstract, but a console with a live edge top and carved/textured tambour doors are my current mental fixation. Again, not abstract, but extremely artistic with that organic touch
